India’s largest oil refineries – “Bharat Petroleum” and “Indian Oil” – are considering buying a million barrels of oil from Saudi Arabian oil company “Saudi Aramco”.
Russian oil is said to be causing more and more problems for India, making it no longer an attractive option.
The discounts offered by Russia are also no longer attractive for the Indian side, which is why Indian companies want to increase oil supplies from Saudi Arabia and West African countries.
Saudi Arabia cut prices to a 27-month low in January, leaving Indian refiners keen to buy additional oil.
It has already been revealed that shortly after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the state-owned Indian oil company Indian Oil purchased three million barrels of crude oil from Russia, despite Western pressure not to engage in such deals.
At the time, the US, Britain and other Western countries were urging India to avoid buying Russian oil and gas in light of Russia’s war against Ukraine
