Knife Attack in Yunnan Hospital Leaves Two Dead and 21 Injured
Source: CNN
On Tuesday, a tragic knife attack occurred in a hospital in China's Yunnan province, resulting in the death of two individuals and injuries to 21 others.
Described as a "violent incident" by Chinese state media Xinhua, the attack took place at a local hospital in Zhenxiong county, with authorities actively gathering more information to understand the situation.
The county's public security bureau confirmed the identification of a male suspect from the county, with an ongoing investigation into the attack that occurred just before midday at Chengnan Hospital.
Reports from Guizhou Television indicated that videos from the scene showed the suspect being apprehended by police at a nearby wellness center.
Despite the arrest, officials have not yet verified if the detained suspect is indeed the perpetrator of the attack.
History of Violence in China
China, where private gun ownership is prohibited for civilians, has witnessed several mass stabbings in public spaces in recent years, highlighting the need for increased security measures.
Notable incidents include a knife attack outside a kindergarten in Guangdong last year, injuring six individuals, and a 2020 stabbing at an elementary school in Guangxi that left 37 children and two adults wounded.
Yunnan was also the site of a 2014 knife attack at a train station in Kunming, where 33 people lost their lives and 133 were injured, with authorities attributing the violence to terrorists from Xinjiang.
Challenges in Healthcare Settings
Violence at hospitals is not uncommon in China, with healthcare professionals often facing assaults from patients or their families, driven by concerns over high costs and the quality of treatment.
It is imperative for authorities to address these security issues and implement measures to safeguard both patients and medical staff in healthcare facilities across the country.

Wassim El-Sisi: Scientific evidence does not support the story of the split of the Red Sea

Books – Hassan Morsi:
Dr. Zahi Hawass, the former Minister of Antiquities, sparked controversy with his statements in which he questioned the fact of the parting of the Red Sea by the Prophet Moses, peace be upon him. These statements were widely criticized by social media users and some clerics.
Dr. Wassim El-Sisi, a researcher in the history of ancient Egypt, came out to defend the scientific research method, stressing that facts and archaeological evidence are the decisive factor in historical facts and events, not narratives and myths.
Wassim El-Sisi stressed, during a telephone interview on the “Cairo Talk” program on the Cairo Wal Nas channel, that scientific evidence does not support the story of the parting of the Red Sea, pointing out that Dr. Hawass did not deny the validity of what was stated in the holy books, but he distinguished between religion and science, as each He has his own field and methodology in research and analysis.
Dr. Al-Sisi also explained that religion and faith depend on belief and feelings, while science depends on concrete evidence and conclusive proofs.
He added that the final say in history should be based on the standards of scientific research, not on religious belief or inherited religious texts.
Dr. Wassim El-Sisi criticized the way some religious and historical stories were dealt with without subjecting them to critical research and analysis, warning of the dangers of this in terms of the possibility of confusing matters and falling into fallacies and distorting history and facts.
Dr. Zahi Hawass had confirmed that he did not deny the authenticity of the story of the parting of the Red Sea, but rather fully believed in its religious and faith-based meaning, but he saw the difficulty of proving it historically using the scientific method, given that it was something of the unseen.

Manchester United sinks: it was beaten by Crystal Palace in the Premier and moves away from the cups
The Red Devils did not make a foot in the game, in a story that began to go wrong when the game was barely 12 minutes old. Michael Olise won the applause with a brutal shot at Casemiro, he continued to express himself and finished from the edge of the area to send it into the back of the net, presaging a difficult day for those led by Ten-Hag.
And that feeling was not wrong, because there were four but there could have been more. At the end of the first half, Mateta faced the left wing and shot André Onana to make it 2-0.
And the second half was an exhibition by Palace against a groggy team that saw the match slipping away. Mitchell corrected an imperfect definition by his teammate by entering from the far post and again Olise lowered the blind with a lethal left foot after the recovery of Daniel Muñoz against a Casemiro who has probably played some of the worst games of his career.
The locals even had the chance to extend the advantagewith several dangerous situations that they could not achieve and a shot against the post that could have been 5-0.
The result is lethal: United are now 9th, six behind Tottenham Hotspur’s UEFA Europa League position and with nine to play.
