The Slovakian Minister of Culture Martina Šimkovičová has another problem. He has been subjected to a wave of criticism since taking office, and now there is an online petition with a record number of signatures. What bothers people most is their lack of expertise and their supposedly discriminatory and homophobic comments.
The new Slovakian Minister of Culture has achieved what no one before her has achieved. Almost 175,000 people have already signed the petition. The public no longer has patience with the minister. She didn’t even wait for the traditional 100-day defense period to end after she took office. “It polarizes society. We have drawn up a petition for the dismissal of the Minister of Culture,” said petition organizer Mira Keratová.
The latest wave of criticism erupted via the Ministry of Culture’s Facebook account. According to critics, Šimkovičová used it for public attacks. For example, she let him vote on whether people wanted money for monument restoration or support for the LGBT+ community. At the same time, the text says that half-naked people are displayed in the squares. When the actors and writers objected, all Facebook posts disappeared.
The minister countered. In your opinion the petition is manipulated. The former journalist Šimkovičová was already exposed to harsh criticism on the day she took office at the end of October last year. Even the statement that NGOs don’t receive a cent from her didn’t help her.
Apparently he doesn’t have to worry about his chair yet. It was proposed to the government by the Slovak National Party coalition, and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico is firmly behind it.
