Remco Evenepoel will have to wait another month for his competitive debut, but the Belgian from Soudal Quick-Step is of course already preparing for the new cycling season. On Monday he traveled to clothing sponsor Castelli in Italy to do some wind tunnel testing.
Evenepoel, the current world time trial champion, tested different types of suits from clothing sponsor Castelli. “The time we spend and the data we extract are invaluable,” says his coach Koen Pelgrim in an interview with Het Laatste Nieuws. “In time trials at Remco’s level, small details can make a big difference.”

“In the controlled environment that a wind tunnel provides, we can see the differences the different types of materials make and how they respond to different positions on the bike. Remco already has a good position on the bike and Castelli already makes an excellent time trial suit, so we don’t need to make any major changes. Rather, refine what we already have.”
Some important time trial dates await Evenepoel again in 2024. The 23-year-old rider wants to perform as well as possible and work against the clock at the Tour de France, the Olympic Games and the World Cycling Championships.
Evenepoel will begin his season in Portugal in less than a month, first with the Figueira Champions Classic and then with the Volta ao Algarve. Afterwards, Paris-Nice, the Tour of the Basque Country, Amstel Gold Race, Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège are on his program. After the spring, the Belgian is preparing for his three biggest goals in 2024: the Tour, the Olympic Games and the World Cycling Championships.
