Tel Aviv: The US is Israel’s strongest ally in the Middle East, but recent developments in Washington have put Tel Aviv under stress. The way leaks have emerged in recent days from American security and diplomatic sources has increased Israel’s security concerns. Especially when they are linked to Israel and Iran. Defense experts in Israel believe that rather than promoting security and diplomatic stability, these leaks are creating anxiety, pressure and chaos. It is believed that through these leaks, an attempt is being made to escalate the already unstable situation. In fact, Israel has been working on a special strategy to protect itself – an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. Israel attacks and destroys its opponents but at the same time it never publicly takes responsibility for these attacks. This balance is extremely important in the tense region of the Middle East. Israel avoided taking public responsibility for any attack, whether it was the attack on the Iranian Embassy in Damascus or the targeting of the city of Esfahan in response to Iran’s attack.
Disappointment over leaks in Israel
But the Pentagon leaked information about the attack on Iran to the American media. Israeli media portal Jerusalem Post, quoting Israeli official sources, has said that there is disappointment in Tel Aviv as to why the Pentagon leaked information to the American media instead of keeping silence on the matter. Israeli sources believe that by doing so the American side has increased unnecessary tension and diplomatic complications.
Threat from American leaks
There is widespread concern in Israel about America making this information public. Bloomberg reported that Israel informed the US about the attack 24 to 48 hours in advance. Israeli sources believe that American officials should have exercised restraint regarding this information, but by leaking this information an atmosphere of tension and fear was created. The Wall Street Journal indicated in an exclusive report that Iran could retaliate against Israel within the next 24 to 48 hours.
Amidst the tension, Iran said – India can make peace with Israel
Israel believes that in an already tense environment, continuous leaks could cause more harm than good. These leaks undermine Israel’s strategy and provoke Iran, which could escalate a broader conflict in the region. The impact of these leaks will extend beyond Israel and Iran. The balance between maintaining confidentiality and public responsibility is extremely important for strategic reasons in the Middle East. But it seems that the US has failed to respect the balance, posing a major threat to stability.

The mayor of Frýdek-Místek, Petr Korč, shared a post on social networks in which he proclaims: “We are increasing the quality of public transport for free”. The catch is that the project is not supported by the city hall, but by a private carrier. This is the ongoing installation of light panels at public transport stops in Frýdek-Místek, which Deník has already reported on. The mayor’s contribution on the networks sounds as if the merits are on the side of the city management.

The management of the city of Frýdek-Místek, through its press spokesperson, objected a few hours after the publication of the article against the claim that the mayor of the city praised the work done by others. “The installation of modern LED signs takes place after consultations with the city management, while the city provides cooperation to the transporter during the installation of these signs, e.g. connection to a power source,” said Jana Musálková Jeckelová, spokeswoman for Frýdek-Místek.
On Tuesday, Petr Korč posted a status on his Facebook and other Facebook groups, notifying citizens of the installation of new panels. In the post, he promotes this project as follows: “We are improving the quality of public transport for free and we are far from finished.” We are installing large information panels at the main stops”. It gives the impression that the smart stop project is another service for citizens that City Hall has earned. Except that the city does not finance or underwrite this project. It is all in charge of the private carrier Transdev Silesia.
The panels are financed by the company and the EU
An external supplier of transport services around the city has invested in increasing passenger comfort. LED boards inform about the nearest departures at nine stops. “Most of the costs are covered by the Union, namely 85 percent, the remaining 15 percent is covered by the resources of Transdev Slezsko, which is the contractual long-term public transport operator in Frýdek-Místek. Other indirect costs associated with installation, project administration and the like are then fully borne by our company,” says Jakub Vyvial, director of passenger transport Transdev Silesia. Also, the grant application was processed and submitted only by this company.

The newspaper turned to the municipality of Frýdek-Místek with a request for a statement. The editors did not receive a direct telephone number from the press department to the mayor of Korč, so they asked the spokesperson of the municipality, Jana Musálková Jeckelová, for an explanation.
The status remained unexplained
How was the statute of mayor Petr Korč meant? And why does he address the public in the plural for the city, if it is not a city project?
The spokeswoman of the municipality did not comment on these questions, she only answered a question related to the financing and implementation of LED panels. “Everything is completely under the direction of the carrier Transdev,” confirmed Jana Musálková Jeckelová.

Transport company Transdev provides free transport of residents for Frýdek-Místek based on the public transport project. “This year, the city will subsidize this service with 157 million crowns,” spokeswoman Frýdek-Místek said. (Originally, the editorial staff of Deník incorrectly stated that Transdev Silesia pays the carrier the sum of 157 million crowns per year for this service. The correct version is that the city of Frýdek-Místek ordered the service from the company Transdev Silesko and pays the carrier the sum of 157 million crowns per year for this service.)
Free public transport is a city service that has been operating for several years. That is why even the mayor’s next sentence from his Facebook status: “And the program is that public transport was, is and will remain for the citizens of the city for a symbolic one crown per year,” may give the impression that the city has invested in improving public transport stops, but traffic will still remain for free.
On social networks, the post, which the mayor of Frýdek-Místek Petr Korč placed on at least four different communication platforms, attracted a lot of interest from people. They mostly send praise and thanks to the mayor. But some of them are confused and ask: “I confess that I do not know if this is an initiative of the city or the carrier. Who knows?” appeared, for example, in the comments in the Frýdek-Místek Facebook group. Until the closing of the article, this writer’s question remained unanswered by the mayor.
