Due to the difficult availability of VGA, many people buy used, but there is a fear that the product is missing several components.
HKEPC reported a not-so-pleasant trend that could be problematic for users eyeing the GeForce RTX 4090. The VGA in question is currently very difficult to obtain in stores, so attention is increasingly turning to the used market, but unfortunately we don’t get the product we had in mind here in the deck.
That’s what happened with a $1,660 purchase that seemed fine at first glance, but the included VGA didn’t work. There was a reason for this, because it turned out that the GeForce RTX 4090 we purchased was missing the GPU and some memory. So everything was fine on the outside, but under the cooler the most important components had already been removed from the circuit board.

It’s also possible to explain where the product comes from, as in November we wrote about the incredible amount of GeForce RTX 4090 VGAs being ripped to shreds in China. The Eastern superpower only needs the graphics controllers and memory of the VGAs in question, so it creates a staggering amount of waste that is offered for sale cheaply. A lot of people are buying these up in China and it looks like the new trend will be to pass off the seemingly good looking VGA as used, even without the GPU and memory on the board. The act is obviously illegal, as it is clearly a case of fraud, but it is questionable how successful a complaint can be if it concerns a product that comes from dubious sources.
