Self-scanning for greater convenience: Isabelle Colbrandt, spokesperson for Lidl, recently shared the details of this innovative initiative with our colleagues at Sudinfo. The main goal of introducing self-scanning is to improve customer convenience while shopping.
Strike in Lidl supermarkets: “If there is no reaction, it will continue next weekend”
The use of the smartphone examined
One of the strengths of this new feature is that it gives customers the ability to scan products using their smartphone. However, the final decision on integrating smartphones into this process has not yet been made. Isabelle Colbrandt emphasizes that although smartphones are ubiquitous and multifunctional devices, Lidl is still thinking about the optimal system. There is also the question of how many stores will initially test this new device.
Considerations are currently underway about the choice of system and the scope of use: Isabelle Colbrandt explains to Sudinfo: “It is interesting because it is a device that is now used for many things and everyone has one.” However, it is not yet sure whether we want to work with a smartphone. We are still considering which system we think is best and how many stores we want to test it in.”
