After many years of abandonment, the items of the American International Hospital in Hanoi have degraded and damaged, making many people regret.
Lack of schools and hospitals is a common situation in major cities around the world and Hanoi is no exception. Therefore, the capital is aiming to prioritize the early completion of 4 large general hospitals at the capital’s gateways, completing the target of 30-35 hospital beds/10,000 people by 2025.
That’s the plan, but in reality, there are many large-scale hospitals that have been built but have been abandoned for decades, wasting resources like the American International Hospital in Hanoi at No. 9 Street. Ha Pagoda (Dich Vong, Cau Giay district).
It is known that the hospital construction project was granted an investment license in 1997 by Keystone Invest Group as the investor, with a capital of about 50 million USD (equivalent to more than 1,000 billion VND).
In 2001, the Hanoi People’s Committee decided to revoke 9,998 m2 of land at 9 Chua Ha Street and allow the hospital to lease 8,540 m2 of land for 40 years.
In 2005, Hanoi undergrounded high-voltage power lines next to the land plot of the Hanoi American International Hospital project, and had the policy of allocating the old power grid safety corridor land to the hospital for use as a garden. However, when the power line was just underground, many households nearby encroached.
Talking to Tien Phong in 2016, Ms. Nguyen Thi Giang Huong, General Director of Hanoi American International Hospital (At that time Deputy General Director of the hospital) said that despite pouring nearly 700 billion into the project, field, but the project could not be implemented because the hospital entrance passed through encroached land. This leads to a situation where the hospital has no entrance.
According to Ms. Huong, at first she only thought that the dispute would be over in 1-2 years, so she tried to wait for everything to be perfect before operating, but she did not expect that many years have passed. People even complained that the investor was incompetent and lacked capital, so the hospital was abandoned, so more land should not be allocated.
Due to the problems just mentioned, for more than 20 years, American International Hospital Hanoi has been “unmoved”.
According to observations, the project has a quite prime location opposite Nghia Do park, located within the campus of Thang Long International Village, near major universities, bus stations and My Dinh stadium.
After many years of abandonment, the hospital’s items have degraded and damaged.
