Real Madrid won the Spanish Super Cup. The Royals were a league too strong for FC Barcelona with a 4-1 win in the Saudi capital Riyadh.

It was the second year in a row that the La Liga rivals faced off in the Supercopa final. Barcelona had won against Osasuna, while Real had beaten city rivals Atlético.
Los Blancos were the best awake, of course without the injured Thibaut Courtois. After just 10 minutes, Real had scored twice and just as often through Vinicius Junior. First after a (wonderful) pass from Jude Bellingham, then after a measured assist from Rodrygo.

FC Barcelona was actually nowhere, but managed something again after half an hour. A lengthy attack ended at the foot of Robert Lewandowski: goal. But not much later the ball landed on the spot. Vinicius got behind the ball and scored his hat trick: 3-1.

The same pattern of play after the break: Barcelona had most of the ball but couldn’t do much with it. Rodrygo scored another goal in the 64th minute to make the final score 4-1. In the end, Raphael Araujo had to be sent off because of Barcelona.
For Real it is the thirteenth Spanish Supercup in the club’s history. Next on the list of honor is Barça, who were too strong for Thibaut Courtois and Co. last year with a 3-1 win. Barcelona remains the record holder with fourteen Supercopas.

Almeria and Ramazani ensure Girona remain drawn
On the twentieth matchday of the La Liga, Girona, the revelation of the season, did not get past bottom team Almeria. At Power Horse Stadium, the score remained 0-0.
The Catalans were once again leading Real Madrid by three points, but were barely able to prevail in Andalusia. The home team even had the upper hand, but could not convert their dominance into a goal. Largie Ramazani was allowed to play more than twenty minutes for Almeria. A few minutes after entering the field, after a free kick from the visitors, he quickly moved towards the guests’ goal and gave one of his teammates a clever pass deep, whereupon Aleix Garcia (ex-Mouscron) triggered the emergency brake and received a red card. Even against ten men, the home team failed to score.
This means that Almeria keeps the red lantern with just under six points, while Girona overtakes Real for the time being.
