Crystal Palace and Everton were held to a 0-0 draw in the fourth round of the English FA Cup on Thursday evening and were therefore sentenced to a replay to determine who progresses to the next round.
Everton, with Red Devil Amadou Onana between the lines throughout the game, were the most dangerous team in the first half and had some good opportunities through Arnaut Danjuma (ex-Club Brugge) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but the Toffees ultimately failed to score . .
Everton continued to pose the most threat in the second half, but at the end of the game the visitors were suddenly ten behind after a red card for Calvert-Lewin. A controversial decision that provoked many reactions.

“If you look at the slow motion it doesn’t look so good, but from where I stand it was a good tackle,” said Everton captain Seamus Coleman. “I saw the replay afterwards and I don’t know who to point at… As soon as the referee goes to the screen you know he’s going to give a red card. Listen, it’s already been a topic of conversation. For me it’s not a red card and it’s another decision that goes against us.”
Coach Sean Dyche was also not happy with the decision. “If you want to slow everything down, you have to slow everything down. There was little contact, at first he doesn’t give anything, then they slow it down and then of course everything looks worse. I’m a fan of VAR, but I think we all realize that everything needs to be tightened up.”
In stoppage time, Crystal Palace took the win, but Everton goalkeeper Joao Virginia saved Eberechi Eze’s long-range shot well.
