The popular first-person shooter “The Finals,” which is available for free on Steam, is starting 2024 with a big patch.
Update 1.5.0 was released on January 17th and offers a variety of improvements and new content.
The game has addressed some criticisms since its release in December 2023, reports “Gamestar”. These include the controversial skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) and balance problems with heavy weapons (“heavy” category). The developers reacted quickly and fixed or improved these problems with regular updates.
The new patch not only makes general improvements and addresses existing balance issues, but also introduces a brand new solo mode: “Solo Bank It”. In this mode, players without a team compete against other soloists. The aim is to see who is the first to collect 40,000 coins when the time is up.
A teaser trailer was released on the official The Finals account on We can’t wait to see the players’ reactions.”
Update 1.5.0 brings a number of important changes. These include balance changes to C4 damage points and weapons, fixes to content and bugs, and a shop expansion with new outfits.
The security of the game is also improved.
In addition, the developers are introducing “Fair Play Guidelines” in order to be able to put a stop to cheaters even more. The aim is to make the game “safer, fairer and more fun”.
Despite the improvements, there are still criticisms from players. In the announcement post for patch 1.5.0, X-user SenorPenguito expressed his wish for the C4 barrel tactic to be nerfed: “This still proves to be too strong a one-hit strategy for the game.”
According to the patch notes, this request has been fulfilled: the damage caused by C4 to the player has been significantly reduced.
