UK Boosts Support for Ukraine
The United Kingdom has announced a significant increase in military aid to Ukraine in response to Russia’s invasion. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak revealed that the UK will be sending additional Storm Shadow long-range missiles to the country, marking the largest military assistance package since the conflict began.
New Arsenal for Ukraine
Among the weapons being dispatched are Storm Shadow missiles, advanced precision-guided cruise missiles capable of striking targets over 250 kilometers away. In addition to these, over 1,600 strike and air defense missiles will also be provided to bolster Ukraine’s defenses. This new aid package represents a commitment of £500 million ($620 million) in fresh funding, bringing the total UK military support to Ukraine for this fiscal year to £3 billion.

Expedition to Patagonia: Climbing Fitzroy Franco-Argentine Route with the Busan Great Wall Club
Members of the Busan Great Wall Club returned from climbing the Fitzroy Franco-Argentine route in Patagonia, South America in January. Our photographer Joo Min-wook participated as a member of the expedition team. Load their expedition plane.
Hyeong-yoon Lee standing at the top of the Lo dejamos ahi Peradondelos Condores route (6a, 4 pitches, 150m). In front of it is the village of El Chalten. The mountain group visible in the distance is Fitzroy.
Namche Bazaar in the Himalayas, Chamonix in the Alps, and El Chalten in Patagonia!!! These villages are sacred places for trekking enthusiasts around the world and base camps for climbers. I have been to all of these places. You could say he was a lucky man. In particular, the village of El Chalten, which I saw on this expedition to Patagonia, had the advantages of Namche and Chamonix. You can spend your daily life more conveniently than Namche (but it can’t compare to the city), and there are fewer man-made structures than Chamonix. Would you say it is an eco-friendly tourist village? This small deserted town, 220km away from Calafate, seemed like a town created only for climbing Fitzroy and Cerro Torre and walking around them.
We continued our trip to Patagonia in a detached house-like accommodation in El Chalten.
The terminal, cafes, accommodation, roads, etc. were well maintained and it was a paradise for big dogs. I felt that the dogs roamed the streets and alleyways ignoring people. The atmosphere in the village was so relaxed. The peak season in this village is between December and March. So, on the day we visited, the village was packed with people. It was not easy to find accommodation.
It is said that Route 40, Ruta 40, is the most beautiful in the world, but the strong wind that blew from the direction of Mt. Fitzroy for us to forget its beauty.
We arrived in town and lived in a 5 person dormitory for the first 3 days. There were many uncomfortable things. So, after climbing Fitzroy, I coordinated with the manager of the accommodation. The person in charge gave us the staff accommodation. The bathroom, kitchen and bedroom were all together and had a separate entrance. It looked like a single family home and was a great hideaway for us. Despite the disappointment of not being able to climb, I collected myself and my mind in a comfortable accommodation. It was a perfect village and accommodation for making many happy memories!
To reach the Condor Wall of Peradon delos, you must pass this bridge from the village of El Chalten.
Before coming here, I had planned that if I encountered a situation where climbing was not possible, I would boldly stop climbing and have a good rest. Unable to climb the mountain due to the weather, we turned our attention to Route 40, said to be the most beautiful in the world. I decided to rent a bike and go hiking. It was very windy that day too. It felt like hiking on a motorbike rather than riding a bike.
If you climb the wall of Condor Peradon delos, a lovely meadow unfolds. A trekking route is also connected to this road.
Wind, wind, damn wind!
Throughout the expedition, we enjoyed a life of leisure that we will never see again in our lives. It was all thanks to the wind(?). When I got tired of staying at the hotel, I walked for a 20km round trip to Cerro Torre Maestri Observatory to catch the ‘poop wind’.
To climb Cerro Torre, you have to cross this river.
The Fitzroy trail entrance is on the main street, and the Cerro Torre trail entrance is further back and above the border. Although the main street is mainly a tourist attraction for out-of-towners, the upper neighborhood feels like a poor village where locals live. However, this was also the entrance to Cerro Torre, so there were a few small bars, and to my personal taste, it felt cozier than the main street.
Part 4 last pitch of Feradon Delos Condor Wall Road Dejamos Eye route.
The Wind God blew the wind through the rest of our journey. (How can we not be so tired?) In the end we decided to move to another area. Finally, I decided to climb the local ‘Jabbawi’, as someone said. We arrived in front of Japbawi Rock. It was 150m high. Although it was quite large, it was not surprising that it was treated like a junk rock here in Patagonia.
The route overlapped with the route of a climber from Argentina. Throughout the climb, whenever we encountered them, we continued to chat with each other in broken English. They showed great curiosity about Korea and climbing.
This wall is called Peradon de los condores. I climbed the route Lo dejamos ahi (6a, 4 pitches 150m). It may be a popular route, but many teams went back and forth. Before leaving El Chalten, a rope was tied with Seok-ju Woo and Ji-eun Lee, who were also victims of the wind. Should I say that it eased the pain of being in the same illness? The view from the top of this place was nice. It was a great relief.
4-pitch starting point, I met climbers Seok-ju Woo and Ji-eun Lee in Patagonia. I spent time with them as a family. This couple’s passion for climbing was at its peak. All of us made the best memories of our lives in Patagonia. After finishing the climb, we held an outdoor barbecue party. Beef and wine prices are cheap here.
We finished the climb early and held a barbecue party on the last night in our accommodation. I will never forget the taste of ‘Asado’ barbecue here.

For me, El Chalten was a place full of sadness, sorrow, and beauty, but at the same time it was a prison-like town. As time went by, I felt like I wanted to be trapped there again. ‘I’ll come back one day!’ The determination only became stronger.
After the trip, I had a beer in a pub, and there were pictures of the soccer player Messi everywhere.

But the tiebreaker took place, precisely, in a Derby della Madonnina, with Inter winning their twentieth title. And the Lombard classic has been a nightmare for the Rossoneri…
Since the tight 3-2 on September 3, 2022, for Serie A 2022/23, Milan has not won a derby again. In fact, Stefano Pioli’s team, which in 2022 had been eliminated by its archrival in the semis of the Coppa Italia, lost its last six games against Inter.
In 2023, Inter won 3-0 in the Super Cup final, played in Saudi Arabia on January 18, to open a historic year. On February 5, he won by the minimum in the championship, something he repeated, in a resounding way (5-1), on September 16. But in the middle, in May, a historic UEFA Champions League tie took place, where Simone Inzaghi’s pupils celebrated in the first leg (2-0) and in the second leg (1-0), advancing to the final, where they then lost Orejona against Manchester City.
Evidently the 2023 triumphs were not an annual issue, because this April 22, 2024, at the legendary San Siro, where the two teams are home, the Nerazzurri celebrated again and did it in a big way, celebrating a title and winning the long-awaited second star.
And this streak has a strong statistical impact: according to the ESPN Data Department, Inter equaled the longest winning streak in the history of the classic (6 by Milan, between 1946 and 1948). Between 2018 and 2020, Il Biscione had had four successes in the derby.
