The Central Bank of Libya announced the start of the process of withdrawing the first and second issues of the fifty dinar note from circulation, starting last Sunday, corresponding to April 21, and until the end of work on Thursday, corresponding to August 29.
The bank asked all citizens to go to the banks and their branches to deposit what they hold from this category into their current accounts, with the need to sort and classify each issue separately to facilitate deposit operations.
Strict measures
The Central Bank of Libya stressed the necessity of applying “enhanced due diligence” procedures to cash deposit transactions exceeding 250 thousand dinars for natural individuals, and one million dinars for legal entities.
These procedures include verifying the identity of the depositor and the source of funds, analyzing the potential risks associated with deposit operations, and immediately reporting any suspicious indicators to the Libyan Financial Information Unit.
The bank also requested all banks to send a weekly report to the Libyan Financial Information Unit and the Banking and Monetary Control Department at the Central Bank of Libya, including details of cash deposit operations made on customers’ accounts.
The Central Bank urged banks to exercise due diligence when receiving currency to prevent the passing of counterfeit currency, including taking into account controls against money laundering and terrorist financing crimes.
How do you distinguish between original and counterfeit currency?
As questions increased about how to distinguish between the original and the counterfeit currency, the Central Bank of Libya published a video statement explaining the differences between the counterfeit and authentic copies of the fifty dinar coin, indicating that there were four copies of it.
It is possible to distinguish between original and counterfeit currency through several factors, such as the texture of the currency, serial numbers, silver security tape, and copper bristles. Ultraviolet rays and a laser pen can also be used to detect differences between currencies.
Citizens’ questions: Will the bank accept all the money?
Although the Central Bank of Libya has clarified how to distinguish between original and counterfeit currency, citizens are still confused about whether the bank will accept all the money in their possession, or will refuse to receive counterfeit currencies.
This question remains pending clarification from the Central Bank of Libya on how to deal with counterfeit currencies, and whether there is compensation for citizens in possession of these currencies.

Cava de’ Tirreni, collapses and cliffs: provincial alarm
Gruyere roads and also very dangerous. Only a part of the provincial road axis that affects the territory of the Metellian city with its numerous critical issues has been studied and analyzed by Gennaro Vitale, head of the Security department of the political movement “La Fratellanza”. «Unfortunately, there are numerous inconveniences that have long been experienced by the citizens of Cavesi who use these provincial arteries either to go to work, school, or to reach their homes».
These are the roads that deserve greater attention from Palazzo Sant’Agostino to avoid accidents, often fatal. For months, unfortunately, the provincial road 129 in Croce is affected by a narrowing of the roadway due to a deep depression which also caused a collapse of a perimeter wall. Due to this inconvenience, part of the public lighting is also out of order. Near the narrowing of the artery there is also a pole with an unsafe lamppost bent at the base presumably due to the impact of some vehicle.
Naturally, without any intervention, the danger for both pedestrians and motorists is considerable. Due to some gusts of wind, it could break off and hit anyone who happens to pass by. Despite the petitions of the inhabitants of the Metellina district, nothing has happened so far the resolution of this problem seems very distant.

Pearl Jam and their average album “Dark Matter” – music
2024-04-18 05:00:00
The love of Austrian Pearl Jam fans has recently been severely tested. Because when a concert that was delayed by Corona for years was finally supposed to take place in July 2022 and many fans were already in the Wiener Stadthalle, setting up their seats (rock ‘n’ roll cushions!) or screwing in the 300 euro earplugs, Suddenly it was said, sorry, march off, Pearl Jam is canceling. Eddie Vedder cited a cold in the vocal cords as the reason. The usual blah blah via anti-social media followed, leaving 12,000 fans with heartburn for days. Often you are unlucky.
