The heavy snowfall ruined a cup night in our country, but the ball got rolling elsewhere in Europe. In the Netherlands, Yorbe Vertessen and Johan Bakayoko secured PSV a place in the round of 16 of the KNVB Cup. The stunt team Girona FC was able to distinguish itself again in the Copa del Rey.
KNVB Cup
The Eindhoven team is having an unprecedented season so far. The Champions League has therefore gone into hibernation and PSV is still at the top of the Eredivisie with the maximum number of points (!). On Wednesday evening there was also a ticket for the round of 16.
Against FC Twente, third in the Eredivisie, coach Bosz secured a starting place for Vertessen. This season he is mainly used as a joker and would therefore be hoping for an exit. However, on Wednesday he proved again that he is a match for PSV. He beautifully scored the 1-0 after 19 minutes.

After the break, captain De Jong completely finished the game. And a little later, Bakayoko put the icing on the cake by scoring a great shot to make it 3-0. Twente improved to 3-1, but victory was never in danger. This means that PSV will move into the round of 16 next week. This will be a duel against reigning champions Feyenoord.

Copa del Rey
In the Spanish Cup tournament, the top teams Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Atlético Madrid only play on Thursday. But the day before there were also some nice posters on the program. For example, CA Osasuna, a losing finalist last season, lost 2-0 to Real Sociedad.
Furthermore, the amazing Girona continues to confirm. The current La Liga leaders qualified for the quarterfinals against Rayo Vallecano. After just 26 minutes, Girona was 3-0 ahead. The guests made it 3-1 a little later, but that was it.
FA Cup
The remaining second games of the third round of the FA Cup were scheduled to take place in England. We were particularly excited about the game between the first division teams Everton FC and Crystal Palace. In the end the Toffee’s won thanks to a goal from Gomes. Onana, who gave a young fan the night of his life (see video below), completed the match. Mangala’s Nottingham beat Blackpool after extra time: 2-3.
