Ten types of vaccines for the expanded vaccination program
The National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology said it has signed contracts to order ten types of vaccines from domestic manufacturers for the expanded vaccination program to quickly distribute them to communities from the first days of January 2024.

Specifically, more than 1.55 million doses of tuberculosis vaccine (BCG), one million doses of hepatitis B, 4.98 million doses of oral polio vaccine (OPV), 1.9 million doses will be available. doses against measles, 1.7 million doses against measles and rubella, 1.4 million doses against Japanese encephalitis, 1.53 million doses of the combined diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis vaccine (DPT), 1.47 million doses against tetanus and 1 .37 million doses against tetanus and diphtheria (Td).
According to representatives of the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, the quantity of these nine types of vaccines is sufficient to vaccinate unvaccinated children in 2023 and children scheduled to be vaccinated in the first half of 2024.
In addition, starting from the second quarter of this year, 549,164 doses of Rota vaccine for the prevention of acute diarrhea will be included in the expanded vaccination program to vaccinate children under one year old.
The expanded vaccination program has been used in Vietnam since 1981. In 1985, this program was strengthened and expanded to cover the entire country. And since 1993, the vaccination rate for children under one year old has been over 90%. Vietnam is among the countries that have successfully implemented the vaccination program in Southeast Asia.
