If your Spotify app keeps crashing on Android lately, you’re not alone, as according to 9to5google, a recent beta update to the Android version of the Spotify app is causing the app to crash before it can fully open.
In recent days, Spotify released an update to its Android app that resulted in the app failing to fully launch. This issue causes the app to fail to open as it crashes within a second or two of the first attempt to open it, unlike last time there was a crash issue. The app too.
However, the issue appears to be limited to Spotify’s latest beta update for Android, version 8.9.2.169.
We first saw the issue on Saturday December 30th and it still exists today with no sign of an update to fix it. Users on Twitter/X confirm the same and that troubleshooting steps like uninstall and reinstall are not working.
In theory, sideloading an older version of the Spotify app should work, but the safest way is to leave the Spotify beta in the Play Store, uninstall the app, and then reinstall it with the stable version. However, it is worth noting that any uninstallation requires that any content downloaded for offline use will also be deleted.
