Huang emphasizes conservative values at inauguration conference
“Squadron rules, all opinions are open”
4th term Lee Jong-bae announces candidacy for floor leader
Chairperson Hwang Woo-yeo, who was inaugurated as the new emergency response committee chair of the People Power Party, said in her inauguration speech on the 3rd, “We will solidify our identity as a conservative party.” Regarding this, some in the party pointed out, “Rather than find the cause of the loss of public support in the metropolitan area and innovate, they will remain in the role of a management-type emergency committee.”
Chairman Hwang held an inauguration press conference at the People Power Party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul this morning and said, “Conservative values should not be deteriorated or damaged and degenerated into pseudo-conservatives,” and “If salt loses its taste, it is useless and is thrown on the ground.” . He said, “Not only will we prepare for the national convention, but we will not neglect the people’s livelihood and party innovation,” and “We will reform until the people say ‘it is enough’ and push for innovation that goes beyond the level of re-founding the party.”
Regarding the party-government relationship, he said, “I will talk openly and honestly.” While attention is being paid to whether the rules for electing the party leader and supreme council member by ‘100% of party members’ will be revised, Chairman Hwang said, “We are open to all opinions.”
Regarding the inauguration speech on this day, there was criticism within the party that “the will for innovation is not clear.” People Power Party lawmaker Yoon Sang-hyun publicly said, “Talking about strengthening conservative identity is like (then) Innovation Committee Chairman In Yo-han talking about unity with one voice after the crushing defeat in the by-election for the head of Gangseo-gu in Seoul,” and “Now is the time for innovation and change.” I should have said it was time for. “Despite repeated crushing defeats, pretending nothing happened is inviting another crushing defeat,” he pointed out. An elected representative from the metropolitan area also said, “If it means that the disorganized appearance shown by the People Power Party so far is not the true face of conservatives, I will agree, but if it means that the moderates should be abandoned, I cannot agree with Chairman Hwang.”
While the People Power Party was registering candidates for the floor leader election on the 5th, Rep. Lee Jong-bae (Chungju, North Chungcheong Province), who succeeded in his fourth term, submitted his candidacy vote on this day. He is the second after Rep. Song Seok-jun (Icheon, Gyeonggi Province). Rep. Seong Il-jong (Seosan-Taean, South Chungcheong Province), who had been criticized for being negative, decided not to run, and Rep. Choo Kyung-ho (Daegu Dalseong) said, “I will reach a conclusion on the morning of the 5th.”
Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon said in a YouTube broadcast that day, “We need to elect a strong floor leader who can speak out when the president’s actions are at odds with public sentiment. “I am worried that those who are classified as the so-called ‘Yoon Haek-gwan’ (Key officials of President Yoon Seok-yeol) will be able to do such a thing,” he said.

The King reaffirms the necessity of an immediate, sustainable and comprehensive cessation of the aggression against the Gaza Strip

His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in his capacity as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, reaffirmed the necessity of an immediate, sustainable and comprehensive cessation of the unprecedented aggression against the Gaza Strip, and allowing the flow of humanitarian aid in the entire Strip.
In his speech addressed to the fifteenth summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, held on May 4 and 5 in the Gambian capital, Banjul, His Majesty the King said: “Based on our responsibilities as King of the Kingdom of Morocco, its people yearn for truth, justice, solidarity and coexistence with other peoples, and as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, we urgently reiterate “Our demand is for an immediate, sustainable and comprehensive halt to this unprecedented aggression, and to allow the flow of humanitarian aid into the entire Gaza Strip.”
In this speech, which was read by the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Al-Tawfiq, His Majesty added: “Our hearts bleed due to the impact of the brutal aggression on Gaza,” highlighting that the Palestinian people are living in extremely dangerous conditions, which constitute a disgrace to humanity.
His Majesty considered that the increase in the frequency of systematic attacks by extremist settlers in the West Bank, at the behest of Israeli government officials, further aggravates these conditions, calling on His Majesty to put an end to any provocative action that would inflame the conflict, and to stop the illegal unilateral Israeli measures that affect the lands. The occupied Palestinian territories, including Al-Quds Al-Sharif and the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, with the aim of changing the legal and cultural status of the city of Al-Quds Al-Sharif.
In this regard, His Majesty the King renewed his complete rejection of all forms of forced displacement, collective punishment, and reprisals to which “our Palestinian brothers” are subjected.
On this occasion, His Majesty called on the countries influential in the process of settling this conflict to assume their historical responsibility, apply reason and logic, and work hard to put an end to this catastrophic situation, remove the region from the cycle of violence, the policy of exclusion and the imposition of a fait accompli, and work to create appropriate conditions. To relaunch a real peace process, leading to an internationally agreed upon two-state solution.
His Majesty said, “In this context, and in the face of this humanitarian catastrophe, the likes of which our contemporary world has never witnessed, we took the initiative, in our capacity as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, and based on the duty of solidarity that frames the work of our organization, and as a contribution to the relief and aid efforts carried out by brotherly and friendly countries, to secure the delivery of… Significant amounts of aid to our Palestinian brothers, directly to Gaza and Jerusalem, and through the Rafah crossing, in coordination with the Egyptian authorities.
His Majesty the King continued by saying, “Despite the difficulties, we are strengthening the field work carried out by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency, under our guidance and under our supervision, to implement social and economic projects for the benefit of the Jerusalemite population, and to provide support to some hospitals.”
In parallel, His Majesty stressed that the popular talk about the future of the Gaza Strip is only valid if the attacks stop and all forms of suffering are lifted from the Palestinian people. His Majesty explained that the Gaza Strip is a Palestinian affair and part of the unified Palestinian territories, which must enjoy peace and independence. Within the vision of the two-state solution and in accordance with relevant international resolutions.
His Majesty the King pointed out that continuing to manage the Israeli-Palestinian conflict without a realistic and sustainable solution has generated frustration and lost hope, adding that this has led to a succession of devastating catastrophes, with their humanitarian tragedies and widening the circle of their dangerous repercussions, “not only on stability and peace in the East.” Middle East, but also on international security.”
Regarding the conflicts that some Islamic countries are suffering from, such as Libya, Mali, Somalia, Sudan, and others, His Majesty the King called for the virtues of dialogue and reconciliation between all parties in order to put an end to them, within the framework of preserving the sovereignty of these sister countries and their national and territorial integrity.

His Majesty expressed his hope that the UN resolution unanimously adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on July 25, 2023, on “Promoting interreligious and intercultural dialogue and tolerance in the face of hate speech,” which was presented by the Kingdom of Morocco, will achieve a qualitative leap in efforts aimed at reducing From the phenomenon of extremism and hate speech.
