During the accident, the woman got between the tram and the boarding island and had both legs under the tram. Firefighters had to be called to free her.
“They used high-pressure lifting bags with which they lifted the tram and pulled the woman out,” described the woman’s rescue, Moravian-Silesian fire department spokesman Lukáš Popp, who added that the firemen managed to free the woman from under the tram in 10 minutes.

Paramedics described the woman’s injuries as serious. “The attending doctor discovered that she had suffered very serious injuries to both lower limbs,” informed the spokesman for Moravian-Silesian rescuers Lukáš Humpl, adding that the crews of the medical rescue service gave the patient oxygen, medicines, treated her injuries and fixed her in a vacuum mattress.
