Polish Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak had previously announced that Polish truck drivers would end the long-standing blockade of Ukrainian border points, taking into account the agreement reached with the government.
Polish truck drivers began blockading three border points on November 6, demanding, among other things, the reintroduction of the EU licensing system for Ukrainian trucks, which was abolished after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
“The blockade will be lifted by March 1,” Klimczak told reporters on Tuesday.
“We have reached an agreement. “An agreement that has been long-awaited not only by Polish truck drivers, but also by several entrepreneurs in Poland, the European Commission and Ukraine,” he said.
Rafals Mekler, one of the organizers of this protest, said that an agreement would be signed to end the blockade of border points.
“The government is making a series of commitments within a certain time frame to meet the demands of the protesters,” Meckler wrote on the microblogging site X.
