In Spain, it is a widespread practice to pay bills by direct debit, where the user submits a request to the relevant financial institution. This mainly happens when paying for some basic household services such as electricity and water.
In this sense, the Bank of Spain recalls that Spaniards have the right to return these receipts immediately if they deem it appropriate.

However, if the invoice is returned to a public institution, this may result in the subsidies we receive being lost or surcharges being levied.
Requirements for requesting the return of a receipt
As the Bank of Spain explains, in order to request the return of a receipt if it has been previously authorized, two conditions must be met: the first of which is that the user does not have information about the debit made and the second of which is after several payments with A receipt is not available for an amount higher than usual.
In order to avoid consequences arising from the return of the receipt, the Bank of Spain points out that the reason for the return will be clearly stated. “The payment services regulations provide for the customer’s right to order the return of receipts or direct debits, which the company must take care of,” explains the public body. According to the regulations is The deadlines for users to return receipts are between eight weeks and thirteen months. This always depends on whether the fees charged have been previously approved. In addition, in the event that this is not approved: The bank has 10 working days to refund the collected amount or in another case justify its receipt.
