It’s AI again! The ID@XboxSo Microsoft Xbox’s own publishing arm, which unites and includes independent developers, tried to wish happy holidays for the winter period with an interesting picture, but there was quite a bit of excitement surrounding the advertising.
A significant number of users noticed that the material was created using some kind of AI-based image generator, as evidenced by the many octondes that one would not normally expect to be made by humans. The Xbox logo is also a strange variation, and the heads also show that it’s probably a generated image, not to mention the cables hanging here and there!
What is wrong with that?
The fact that these types of images generated by generative AI are typically generated with minimal (if any) human intervention means in Hungarian that a prompter enters the expected image into the generator and the machine after a few Try to output something usable, maybe someone else will have a bit of fun with post-production. And the AI practiced the details on a training set, after which the original artists never received a cent.
In short, the company gained access to a work of art for almost free, without relying on the work and talent of independent (indie freelancers) or dependent (long-term employed) graphic designers.
All of this is used to promote a platform where the attitude is, at least in principle, the exact opposite.
The quagmire of plagiarism is one thing, but ignoring the work of graphic designers and thereby cutting into their livelihood is a greater insult to the artists in the industry.
What do you think about the above? A few days ago, Square Enix announced that they would be using AI-based tools to develop future games.
