Microsoft has started testing a new feature that automatically launches one of the applications at system startup on select computers.
Microsoft has announced the launch of a new function as a test. In fact, it’s difficult to even call it a feature because in Windows 11 one of the applications starts automatically at system startup. Fortunately, this applies to select computers.
Copilot on Windows
Microsoft intends to automatically launch the Copilot application, its latest AI assistant. This happens on select computers, especially those with wide screens. The Redmond company does not specify what equipment this is, but one can assume that it is at least 21:9 screens or non-standard resolutions.
The good news is that it currently only works in the Dev Channel, but we can expect it to be available on all users’ computers over time. Of course, this is Microsoft’s way of forcing a new assistant on us. I suspect that many people will not be happy when it actually comes to the stable version of Windows 11.
Fortunately, this can also be turned off in System Preferences. This doesn’t change the fact that forcibly offering Copilot is probably not the best way to go. In my opinion, Microsoft will discourage rather than encourage new users this way.
