State Senator Arrested on Suspicion of Burglary
MINNEAPOLIS — A former broadcast meteorologist and state senator found herself in hot water early Monday in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Democratic Sen. Nicole Mitchell, 49, was taken into custody on suspicion of first-degree burglary, according to Detroit Lakes Police Chief Steve Todd.
Mitchell, a resident of Woodbury, is currently being held in the Becker County Jail as formal charges are being prepared. Attempts to reach her for comment were unsuccessful, and it remains unclear if she has legal representation at this time.
Political Ramifications
The timing of Mitchell’s arrest is particularly sensitive as the Senate is currently on its Passover break. With just a one-seat majority, Senate Democrats may face challenges in passing legislation without her presence. Mitchell’s absence could hinder progress in the remaining four weeks of the legislative session.
Before her political career, Mitchell had a background in meteorology, working for the U.S. military, KSTP-TV, and Minnesota Public Radio. She also holds a position as a lieutenant colonel in the Air National Guard, overseeing a weather unit.
Arrest Details
Authorities were alerted to the burglary in progress at a residence in Detroit Lakes through a 911 call early in the morning. Mitchell was apprehended at the scene, but further information is limited as the investigation is ongoing. Becker County Attorney Brian McDonald has yet to comment on the case.
Interestingly, public records indicate that Mitchell’s late father and stepmother resided in the same neighborhood where the incident took place. The stepmother declined to provide a statement when contacted.
Political Response
News of Mitchell’s arrest has caught Senate leaders off guard. The Senate Democratic Caucus issued a brief statement acknowledging the situation but refrained from further comment until more details emerge. Republican Senate Majority Leader Mark Johnson expressed shock over the news and emphasized the importance of upholding high standards of conduct among legislators.
As the investigation unfolds, both legal and political consequences are expected to follow for Mitchell.

PharmacoBio, a healthcare R&D company, announced on the 23rd that it has launched PharmacoBrain PS, a brain health functional food (aka brain nutritional supplement) containing Korea’s highest purity 80% phosphatidylserine (PS) raw material.
Pharmaco Bio said, “PS is one of the components of brain phospholipids and is abundantly distributed in the brain’s nerve cell membrane. It is an essential ingredient for maintaining healthy brain function and improving cognition, and the amount synthesized in the body decreases with age. Therefore, PS needs to be consumed separately through food or supplements. The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety recognizes it as a functional ingredient that can help improve cognitive ability that has declined due to aging.”
He continued, “The newly launched Pharmacobrain PS is a brain health functional food containing premium PS raw materials with 80% purity. One packet of powder per day can be easily and conveniently consumed to meet the daily intake of 300mg (Ministry of Food and Drug Safety Notification Standard), supporting brain health. “We can manage it,” he emphasized.
Numerous studies have shown that Pharmacobrain PS’ vegetable raw material PS, extracted from non-GMO American soybeans that have not been genetically modified, can help improve cognitive decline caused by aging, moisturize the skin, and maintain skin health against skin damage caused by ultraviolet rays. It was reported in
Yang Young-soon, professor of neurology at Soonchunhyang University College of Medicine (insurance director of the Korean Neurological Association and insurance director of the Korean Dementia Association) said, “Brain cells that begin to decline from the age of 30 are irreversible once damaged and cannot be recovered, so you must take care of your brain health in advance. “If you are experiencing cognitive decline or if you keep forgetting certain words or memories differently than before, it is important to manage your brain health in advance through exercise, diet, supplements, etc. and maintain healthy cognition.” said.
According to the Korea Health Functional Foods Association, the market for brain-related health functional foods, called brain nutrients, is growing rapidly every year, and is expected to grow further as the population ages and the degenerative brain disease market grows. Kang Seong-min, CEO of PharmacoBio, said, “The launch of PharmacoBrain PS means that we will showcase the expertise and potential of a brain-specialized bio company accumulated over 14 years by entering the preventive market for managing brain health along with the development of dementia treatments. “Our goal is to help everyone live a healthy old age with the company’s dual portfolio of prevention and treatment,” he said.
