BYD puts Volkswagen ID.3 in its sights by presenting the new Ocean-M concept, a compact electric designed with the stylistic dictates of the Old Continent in mind although at the moment there is no official information on the arrival on the European market, while in China it is expected for the end of 2024.
Sporty and edgy design
The lines are that of a sports sedan, with the front characterized by thin headlights and two large air intakes that give it an aggressive look. On the side, the beltline is quite high while at the rear the lights span the entire width of the car, just like cars designed and built in Europe. Also at the rear, the large diffuser in the lower part of the car stands out, as does the pronounced wing created to better convey the air.
Compact rear-wheel drive
Chinese company BYD has said little about the car so far, other than that it is meant to be developed on a new electric platform, possibly the Electronics Platform 4.0, and that they are targeting the car as the first electric notchback for electric vehicles rear-wheel drive in the industry. It is possible that the car will be one of the first to benefit from the new second-generation batteries.
The dimensions have not yet been disclosed but it should be longer than the Dolphin, going to challenge the German electric ID.3.
At the moment no other details of the car have been disclosed and the price should be between approximately 19 thousand and 26 thousand euros.
