Mother Reyhan Gürbüz, who woke up during the fire, took her mentally disabled son Efekan Gürbüz and sought shelter on the back balcony.
Teams from the Samsun Metropolitan Region Fire Department responded to the fire. The fire, which spread to the adjacent apartment, was extinguished by the fire department. Firefighters entered the house, rescued Reyhan Gürbüz and her son Efekan Gürbüz, who had taken refuge on the back balcony, and brought them out. Efekan Gürbüz was carried to the ambulance in the arms of the fire department. At the time of the fire, Hasan Akça, the owner of the adjacent apartment, was also affected by the smoke. Reyhan Gürbüz, Efekan Gürbüz and their neighbor Hasan Akça, who were affected by the smoke, were taken by ambulance to Samsun Training and Research Hospital and Gazi State Hospital.
An investigation into the fire has been launched.
