Soudal-QuickStep also wants to fight for stage wins in the 2024 spring classics. Although the team is missing something, says Yves Lampaert.
Patrick Lefevere is fully committed to the Tour de France in 2024 with Remco Evenepoel. This gives the impression that the spring classics, where the team has always scored points in the past, are becoming less important.
But nothing is less true. There was even reinforcement for the spring team with Gianni Moscon. “We made a good transfer with Gianni. He is certainly not wiped out. If we get him back on track, he can become a strong chess player,” says Yves Lampaert from Sporza.
Lefevere’s team is also a long way behind, adds the West Flemish player. “Julian (Alaphilippe) also has to be able to take part in order to win. We have a team that shouldn’t be underestimated, even if we lack a leader like Wout van Aert. But we have to continue to believe and show that we are strong in all areas.”
Patrick Lefevere already believes that Soudal-QuickStep can score points in the spring classics.
