Microsoft has now released its Copilot app for iOS, iPadOS and macOS. It is available free of charge in the App Store. The AI chatbot allows texts to be generated using, among other things, the Large Language Model (LLM) GPT-4 – free of charge and without registration. The text-to-image generator DALL-E3, which is integrated, will certainly be of interest to some.

The version for Apple devices followed a few days after Microsoft published the app for Android devices. Officially it is only intended for iOS and iPadOS. But Microsoft allows it to be downloaded from the Mac App Store on Macs with Apple Silicon. Although it is considered untested there, it worked perfectly in our tests.
Up to 30 replies per thread
The AI assistant, first called Bing Chat, can also be used without registering. However, only five questions and answers are possible per thread. Creating images is only possible after registration. With a Microsoft account, the number of replies per thread increases to 30. In addition to text input, photos and voice input can also be uploaded for processing. Currently, complete chat histories cannot be backed up. Individual answers can be copied.
Microsoft’s Copilot joins OpenAI’s official ChatGPT app in the App Store, but it is not available for the Mac. In addition, the use of GPT-4 at ChatGPT is only possible with a paid Plus subscription. The Copilot has already been integrated into Windows, Office applications and other software.
