An update for the Samsung Galaxy S22 does not bring a new security patch. However, according to the list of changes, the performance of the device’s camera will be improved.
Galaxy S22 update: better camera
The Galaxy S22 series received the January update two and a half weeks ago. And now that the month is almost over, most of the waiting seemed to be for the next patch – and the next One UI upgrade. But apparently there are a few other things planned for the S22.
An update of around 250 MB is being rolled out for the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra today. Firmware version S90*BXXU7DXA6 does not yet contain next month’s patch. And no significant bugs are fixed either. Well, according to the attached change list, there is the ‘Improved Performance – Camera. Yes, the camera is getting better.
With our editorial S22, we have not yet been able to check in which areas the device’s camera has improved. So if you own a Galaxy S22, S22+ or S22 Ultra and you already notice something, please let us know below what exactly will be better after today’s update.
To clarify: No, today’s update does not fix the burn-in bug either. This is the bug that came with the One UI 6 upgrade and disables the pixel shifting mechanism that protects status bar icons from burn-in. Samsung has promised a fix for this bug and we know that One UI 6.1 is no longer affected by it. Although we hope the solution will not be available until this major upgrade, it is not included in today’s update.
Availability
The new update is now available on the website Unbranded Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra in the Netherlands, Belgium and the rest of Europe. You can wait for the automatic notification or immediately manually check if you can download it yet. You do that over Settings -> Software Update -> Download and Install.
Have you already received the new update on your Galaxy S22? What’s better about your device’s camera?
(Thanks, Peter!)
