Tragic Incident Unfolds in Mount Horeb
A tragic incident occurred in Mount Horeb where a 14-year-old student was fatally shot by police after pointing a Ruger .177 caliber pellet rifle at officers. The state Department of Justice revealed that the boy failed to comply with commands to drop the weapon, leading to the fatal confrontation.
Despite efforts to save the student’s life, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Fortunately, no one else was harmed during the incident, and the officers involved are currently on administrative leave as per protocol.
Police Response and Lockdown
Authorities were alerted to a potential threat at Mount Horeb Middle School when a student was spotted with a backpack and what appeared to be a long gun. The situation unfolded rapidly, with police locating the student near the school's entrance.
The school, along with four other district schools, went into lockdown, causing anxiety among students, parents, and staff. An emergency alert was issued to residents, warning them of the active shooter situation.

Today, May 4, 2024, Mr. Ambassador Omar Issa, Director General of Arab and Asian Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with His Excellency Ali bin Hassan Jaafar, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Sudan.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries.
The Saudi ambassador renewed his country’s support for legitimacy in Sudan and its keenness to preserve its sovereignty and unity and stand against everything that threatens its security. He affirmed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s refusal to use its lands in any activity that threatens Sudan or any other sister country, or to insult the Sudanese leadership or any official official.
Regarding the video that appeared on social media of members of the Rapid Support militia in the Dhahran region in southern Saudi Arabia, the Saudi ambassador said that this video dates back to a period of four months, and follows a basic training course received by soldiers participating in the coalition forces, and does not include training in artillery, marches, or medical work. He stated that the relevant authorities investigated who filmed and broadcast the video, and that he learned that the person who broadcast the video had been detained. He promised to consult with the competent authorities in the Kingdom to address the matter.
He expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s appreciation to the leadership and people of Sudan for standing with the Kingdom against everything that threatens its security, stability and safety.
