The radically redesigned GR Yaris has just been unveiled, and Toyota has already made a special run of them – two, to be exact – to be produced in extremely limited numbers.

Incidentally, Toyota’s World Rally Championship (WRC) competing team, Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team, has won four individual world championship titles since 2020 – first two from Sébastien Ogier and then two more from Kalle Rovanperä (in 2019 Toyota). was also the individual world champion, but Ott Tänak is now starting for Hyundai and is therefore eliminated from this round.)
Since Ogier and Rovanperä were both involved in the development of the GR Yaris, Morizo (i.e. former company president Akio Tojoda, current CEO and increasingly futuristic mascot of Toyota) saw fit to say thank you with exclusive cars that reflect their personalities.
This is how the Ogier Edition and the Rovanperä Edition of the GR Yaris were created. They haven’t touched the engine, the 280 hp and 390 Nm used in Europe remain. The transmission is a six-speed manual transmission variant.
However, the drive control software was modified by replacing the production model’s two racing modes (gravel and asphalt) with two adaptation packages that best suited the drivers’ personal driving style. The normal default setting remained unchanged.
In the case of the Ogier Edition, such a mode is called Morizo and seems to be the optimal setting for a moderately experienced, maximally enthusiastic amateur driver. The other is Seb mode, in which the front and rear partially self-locking differentials and AWD control transfer torque mainly to the rear to prevent the vehicle from oversteering.
One of the Rovanperä Edition’s switchable modes is the Donut, which is specifically optimized for drifting and driving around in one place, while the Kalle mode, in turn, only supports oversteer.
The two cars differ not only in style but also in appearance.
The Ogier Edition avoids standing out with a matt gray paintwork, only the blue brake calipers and the French flag can be seen on the radiator grille. A huge carbon fiber spoiler rises up at the rear, the doors have TGR stickers and a unique emblem. In the passenger compartment, a plaque commemorating world championship titles and decorative stitching reminiscent of the colors of the French tricolor create an ambience worthy of Ogier.
The Rovanperä Edition is much more extravagant: its tricolor decor was designed by the same artist who designed the driver’s crash helmet. The rear wing follows the GRMN Yaris solution and is suspended on a gooseneck mount. The stickers and the logo should not be missing here, as well as the badge in the interior and the stitching in the color that is reminiscent of the Finnish flag.
Both vehicles were equipped with 18-inch BBS wheels and the instrument cluster menu system was updated with the parameters of each operating mode.
The total number of Ogier and Rovanperä editions is unknown, according to the Hungarian importer, Hungary will receive an example of both variants, so whoever buys them can be sure that (officially) no one else in the country will have such a car.
