Very important victory for Girona at the Gran Canaria Stadium to win again as a visitor and get very close to the goal. Míchel Sánchez’s men have not found the fluidity of other days in the game, but they have been successful in the key moments of the match and effective in resolving it. The penalty point ended up making the difference, with one saved by Gazzaniga as soon as he started and two converted by Girona. This victory, added to the rest of the results of the day, now leaves the team with thirteen points ahead of fifth place, Athletic, with only fifteen points left to play.
The start of the match has not been easy, with a brave Las Palmas that has managed to step into the rival area with danger and that after seven minutes has seen a penalty whistled in its favor due to a fall by Moleiro inside the area. Paulo Gazzaniga guessed the intentions of the thrower, Sandro Ramírez, and stopped his shot with his face by throwing himself to his right. A key stop in the script of the game, and from here on Girona has been able to grow little by little. In a corner kick midway through the first half, Eric García was grabbed, and the referee also pointed to the penalty spot. Dovbyk was unable to deceive the goalkeeper and stopped his shot, but David López was more ready than anyone to anticipate and send the rebound into the back of the net.
Things have taken a turn for the better for Girona as soon as they returned from the locker room. A good individual play by Couto ended with a foul on the Brazilian inside the area, which became the third maximum penalty of the afternoon. This time, Dovbyk did not fail and beat Álvaro Vallés with a low and powerful shot to the left side. The people from Girona have known how to manage the score and resist when the locals have taken a step forward to try to close the gap.
Next week Barça visits Montilivi, on Saturday at 6:30 p.m., in the first of the last five games of the month of May that will close a historic season for Girona.

‘There is nothing wrong with trying to influence elections’
The defense of former President Donald Trump (2017-2021), accused of falsifying documents to buy the silence of porn actress Stormy Daniels and thus protect his 2016 electoral campaign, assured this Monday that the Republican politician is “innocent” and that he acted under the umbrella of “democracy.”
“I have a ‘spoiler’ alert: there is nothing wrong with trying to influence an election. It’s called democracy. They try to make it something sinister,” concluded lawyer Todd Blanche, in charge of opening this first day of the arguments phase today. initials by Trump’s defense.
Blanche maintained that the payments made to Michael Cohen, a former lawyer who worked for Trump until 2017, worth $420,000 were made to compensate for his legal “services” and not to compensate him for orchestrating a plan to hide information that could harm the former president. as the Prosecutor’s Office alleges.
Blanche argued that Trump has the right to the presumption of innocence, “something that some of his critics lose sight of,” and that the Prosecutor’s Office has presented “a very nice and simple story” because they do not understand that the figure of the former president “overflows the reality”.
Likewise, he took advantage of this statement to criticize Stormy Daniels, whom he described as a “biased” person who has “made a career” selling her alleged affair with Trump.
And he also charged against Cohen, who pleaded guilty in 2018 to federal charges derived from the payment, which he defined as “obsessed” with Trump.
“He has a goal, an obsession with taking down President Trump. He cannot be trusted, I assure you,” Blanche concluded.
Finally, Blanche addressed the jury asking them to use “common sense” when making a decision in this case, the first criminal case faced by a former US president in the entire history of the country.
“Use your common sense. We are New Yorkers. That’s why we are here. If you do, there will be a verdict of not guilty very quickly,” Blanche concluded.
