The most experienced and oldest manufacturer of OLED TVs – and leader in this market – has revealed some secrets about its offering this year. The first customers are already saving money on their purchase.
LG is not the only manufacturer of OLED televisions. However, it is the world’s largest manufacturer of OLED TV matrices and most other manufacturers source panels from LG. Its largest and only competitor is Samsung, which has only been on this market for two years – its matrices, although they offer better operating parameters so far, are far from the economics of an experienced competitor.
Are LG OLED TVs the best in the world? It varies, but they are definitely some of the best. Above all, no one can offer OLED televisions at such attractive prices as LG. The competition’s greatest hope is to excel in other features of the television, such as the image processor or additional functions. However, LG’s announcements indicate that the company does not want to give up here either.
The most interesting texts on RTV from the last few days:
This is clearly the end of the LG OLED C series legend. The premium limit starts with the G line.
OLED C was the most recommended LG TV for years. More expensive versions had better cases and peripheral accessories, but the C model still had the best matrix and processor. So if you don’t value bells and whistles and are looking for something with a great image and an acceptable price, the LG C is the best choice. Unfortunately, that has changed somewhat recently. The C-Line is clearly being pushed towards mass-market models to give the more expensive G-Line more attention.
The LG OLED C4 will not come with an OLED MLA panel, which is slightly brighter. This will only be available for G4 and M4 TVs. The C4 is said to be only slightly brighter than last year’s C3, but supports a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. The G4 and M4, in turn, offer up to 150 percent. Brightness of the standard version of this year’s panel. How do they differ from each other? M4 is a wireless TV that is easy to hide Crate, to which the user connects a decoder, console and other peripherals, which helps maintain visual order. With the G4, the connections are traditionally integrated into the housing.
LG OLED G4
The cheapest LG B4, in turn, will be prepared for the needs of modern gamers: all of its ports will implement the HDMI 2.1 standard and not HDMI 2.0 as before. Of course, this also means 120 Hz refresh support (although not 144 Hz, as in more expensive models). However, there will be other differences. The LG G4 and M4 have a brighter panel than the LG C4 and B4 (though all will be brighter than last year’s counterparts), and the B4 doesn’t support 144Hz refresh like the more expensive models. But there is something else.
Artificial intelligence in full swing – but only for selected LG OLED TV 2024 customers.
LG has made the surprising and disappointing decision to implement its new image processor in only some TVs. The LG B4 will be equipped with the Alpha 8 chip, the LG C4 with the Alpha 9 Gen 7 chip, and the G4 and M4 with the Alpha 11. Only the Alpha 11 is equipped with advanced image reconstruction capabilities using artificial intelligence. Alpha 9 is an older generation system that does not affect content protected by DRM mechanisms (e.g. Netflix streaming). These algorithms are almost non-existent in B4.
That’s a shame, because Sony, Samsung, TCL and Philips seem to understand that streaming is the main source of data consumption and that streaming weaknesses (caused by data compression) should be addressed in all receivers, not just the most expensive ones. Well, fortunately the LG OLED TVs are likely to be the most cost-effective organic TVs for 2024 anyway, which means that some shortcomings can be forgiven.
