Taking into account the epidemiological alert following the detection of an increase in the number of consultations for influenza-like illnesses (ILI) and hospitalizations for severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) and the detection of an increase in COVID-19 activity by the surveillance system of the General Directorate of Health Surveillance The entire population is asked to take the necessary precautions to avoid infections in addition to protection through vaccinations.
The beginning of this new year is also an opportunity to protect yourself against COVID-19 with the bivalent vaccine, which is a single and annual dose. It protects against severe forms of infection, reduces the risk of hospitalization and death and is free to use. It is suitable for ages 6 and older, with priority given to those with risk factors and/or comorbidities.

What to do to prevent infections?
1. People with respiratory problems should wear a mask appropriately. Its use is also crucial when visiting health facilities.
2. When coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth and nose with the inside bend of your elbow rather than your hand.
3. Wash your hands regularly and properly.
4. Ensure good ventilation of the surrounding area.
5. Do not share utensils with others.
6. Avoid close contact with anyone who shows signs of respiratory illness such as coughing or sneezing.
7. If you have symptoms, go to the doctor in time.
If you are infected:
You must remain in home isolation and avoid attending work activities or other public places, especially indoors, until the clinical condition improves, thereby avoiding contact with immunocompromised people and/or with risk factors for SARI. The rest period is at the discretion of the doctor based on the patient’s clinical assessment.
