Dr. Bishr Al-Khasawneh emphasized the depth of brotherly relations that bind Jordan and the Emirates and enjoy the care and attention of the leadership of the two sister countries, and expressed Jordan’s support for the success of the UAE’s hosting of the Thirteenth Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization, which will take place in Abu Dhabi next February and will be attended by ministers and officials from 164 countries. members of the organization.
He also highlighted Jordan’s high-level participation in this conference. We appreciate the UAE’s efforts and success in hosting the Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP28) last month, where many important initiatives were announced.
For his part, Thani Al-Zeyoudi emphasized that the United Arab Emirates and Jordan share a vision of building an economy that anticipates future prospects and is based on innovation, knowledge and the free flow of trade and investment. The two brotherly countries also share a common will to advance bilateral relations to a broader level of integration and shared growth.

The official visit of His Excellency Thani Al-Zeyoudi to the capital Amman comes as trade relations between the Emirates and Jordan record continued momentum after bilateral non-oil trade recorded record growth of more than 47% in 2022 compared to 2021 recorded $4.5 billion, more than double the value recorded in 2022. In 2020, intra-regional trade grew by 106% then and by 57.8% compared to 2019. This trade dynamic and the upward trend in intra-regional trade growth rates continued in the first half of 2023, when trade flows between the two countries recorded around two billion dollars.
These flows strengthened Jordan’s position as the UAE’s third Arab trading partner outside the Gulf Cooperation Council countries after Iraq and Egypt, accounting for 8% of the UAE’s total non-oil foreign trade with Arab countries.
The United Arab Emirates is also the world’s fifth trading partner and Jordan’s second largest Arab partner after Saudi Arabia, accounting for 6.2% of Jordan’s foreign trade with the world.
At the level of investment relations, the UAE is the world’s leading investor in Jordan, as the total value of UAE investments in the Kingdom reached about $4 billion by the end of 2020, accounting for 14% of total foreign direct investment flows to Jordan. In contrast, the value of Jordanian investments in the Emirates will reach more than $1.6 billion by the end of 2021, and the Kingdom is among the top 24 countries investing in the Emirates, ranking sixth in the Arab world Position in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon, Bahrain and Qatar.
