Alain Delon now lives in Douchy, in Loiret, his beloved house that he bought in the 1970s, where he even wants to be buried with his dogs.
In Douchy (Loiret), Alain Delon has owned the La Brûlerie estate for more than 50 years, and the sacred monster of French cinema values the place so much that he intends to be buried there with his dogs.
In the small village of Gâtinais with 1,373 inhabitants, everyone has already seen the actor, owner since 1971.
“Alain often had lunch at Auberge du Terroir. (…) We saw him in the pharmacy, among the traders, he did his shopping like everyone else. He was a citizen like any other,” says Mayor Abel Martin.
“He took part in village festivals, the school festival. (…) Especially at the time of Mireille Darc.”
The man who played The Cheetah for Visconti actually settled in the Loire region with the actress from the early 1970s until their separation in the 1980s.
“They played Santa Claus”
“When I was a student, Alain Delon and Mireille Darc came to school every year for the end-of-year celebrations. “They played Santa Claus and gave each of us a present,” remembers Maxime, who is now “57 years old” and lives in the village.
Built under the First Empire, the Château de La Brûlerie, which became an SNCF holiday center in the 1950s, “then burned down,” says Abel Martin. “Alain Delon demolished the castle here to make it his current property.”
The Delon-Darc couple left only outbuildings and, on the site of the castle, created a lake in the middle of a huge park of several dozen hectares surrounded by high walls. Inside, Alain Delon remains discreet; all we know is that he had a cinema built there.
Although he settled in Switzerland in the 1980s, the actor settled there again with Rosalie van Breemen, the mother of his two youngest children. Anouchka and Alain-Fabien were also born in Gien (Loiret) in the 1990s.
His heart is at home
If Alain Delon still has a residence in Geneva, according to Abel Martin, it is his beloved home, to which he has fled since July 2023 and where he still remains today.
The actor also wants to be buried in his cave with his dogs, as he has explained several times in the media.
“I know he wants to be buried here. He spoke to the previous mayor about it and notified the prefecture,” Abel Martin confirms to AFP.
“There are rules,” the elected official hesitates. “It is an approval from the prefecture. To my knowledge, it hasn’t been fully acquired yet.”
