Sarah Hector last won when she became Olympic champion in February 2022. The Swede achieved her previous victory in the PK stages a month before the Olympic Games at the end of January 2022, when she defeated all competitors in the Kronplatz giant slalom. This season Hektor was in the top three twice, finishing third in both the slalom and giant slalom, but she still wasn’t the Hektor we were used to two years ago.
The performance that the Swedes showed today in Jasna corresponded to that of 2021/2022. season and left no hope even for Mikaela Shifrin, who lost one and a half seconds in the total of two races. On the other hand, New Zealand’s Alice Robinson, who finished in the top three for the second time this season, was more than two and a half seconds behind the winner, while the others’ gap started at four seconds. It also shows the greatness of Hector today.
After relatively unsuccessful starts in the slalom, the young and talented Croatian ski racer Zrinka Ljutić, who is a year younger than Jennifer Đermani, took 4th place, finishing in the top six for the fourth time in her career. Sixth place was enough for 2021 world champion Lara Guta-Behrami to take the lead in this discipline. Šifrin’s closest competitor in the PK overall ranking, Petra Vlhova, did not finish in the first race today, as did Federica Brignone, the current leader in the giant slalom overall ranking.
