Last night, the Edmonton “Oilers” renewed a franchise record in the National Hockey League (NHL) with a 3-1 victory over the Calgary “Flames”, making it their 13th in a row.
Sam Garner scored the game-winning goal early in the third period, his fifth of the season. The Oilers are the only team in the NHL that has not suffered a loss this year.
The San Jose Sharks defeated the Anaheim Ducks 5-3 in a battle between the bottom two teams in the Pacific Division. Veteran Tomáš Hertl scored 1+1 for the winners, for sharks it was only the 11th win of the season.
The Montreal Canadiens experienced a major fiasco against the Boston Bruins on the road and lost 4-9. Attacker Denton Heinen scored the first hat trick of his career as part of the winners, giving Boston its fourth success in a row.
Meanwhile, the Winnipeg “Jets”, who continue to pursue the Vancouver “Canucks” represented by Theodore Blüger in the Western Conference, defeated the Ottawa “Senators” 2-1 in overtime, Nikolay Ilers scored the winning goal.
