In his speech at the retirement meeting at the party headquarters, Özel argued that the government that has ruled the country for more than 20 years has plunged Turkey into a deep economic crisis.
Özel said that it should not surprise anyone that in this state the economy is in a place where the constitution is ignored, the laws have no force and the search for rights has disappeared. He explained that every section of society was in trouble. However, the biggest problem is faced by pensioners who have worked for their country for years and now have to feel comfortable.
Arguing that they are faced with an understanding that makes life difficult for pensioners, Özel continued:
“Pensioners have worked all their lives. You worked for this country. They worked for their families and children. Although many of them may feel comfortable now, they are still working to get extra salary by agreeing to do their jobs.” I don’t know anything about the post-retirement period. Why does a pensioner work? An unemployed child “There is someone who works to take care of his grandchildren. There is a child who studies at university and works to send his pocket money.”
Explaining that pensioners from abroad vacation in the best places in Turkey with their salaries, Özel argued that pensioners in Turkey cannot even go to the park, let alone go on vacation, and that pensioners are afraid of the park to walk to grocery store.
“They said it was great, good news.”
Özgür Özel said that those who made fun of pensioners when they brought up the holiday bonus later gave this bonus, but this bonus remained at ridiculous numbers.
Özel explained that pensioners have thousands of problems:
“The biggest problem overall is that there is an institution called the Turkish Statistical Institute, TÜİK, which distorts and underestimates the numbers, but their work is not so innocent. It literally reaches into each of your pockets and steals money from you.” There, real inflation is 127 percent, but the inflation rate at 127 percent was 7,500 lira. They said it was great news, they brought it to 10,000 lira with a 33 percent increase. CHP has been saying this for years, even you, even if you want it. They deliberately impoverish the pensioner. When these came, the lowest pension was 147 percent of the minimum wage, that is, when the minimum wage was one, the lowest pension was 1.5. Until this month it was 44 percent of the minimum wage, which we criticized. With the last increase they made was 147 percent of the minimum wage. That was equivalent to 59. The minimum wage is 17,000 2 lira, the lowest pension is 10,000 lira.”
“You will answer to the pensioner for this”
Özel said that while in 2002 you could buy 8 quarters of gold with the lowest pension, today you can buy 2.5 quarters of gold.
Özgür Özel said: “We have reached the point where we have reached 2.5 quarters of gold from 8 quarters of gold. You take 5.5 quarters of gold out of your pocket every month and give it to the rich. You will submit the report on this to the pensioner, the pensioner will ask you to account for it. March 31 will be the day of reckoning,” he said.
Stating that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated the burden on pensioners as 200 billion lira, Özel said: “He calls it a burden to increase the 7,500 lira he gave you to 10,000 lira. Look, the money paid.” The exchange rate protected deposits amount to 800 billion lira. The burden he imposes on pensioners he calls exactly 4 billion lira.” “The money he gave you and which he considered a burden is a quarter of that, 200 billion lira.” . gave his assessment.
“It is not right to condemn people to low salaries”
Explaining his party’s promises to pensioners, Özel said:
“Our suggestions are as follows: the lowest pension should be as high as the minimum wage. That’s not enough because it was 1 to 1.5, it should go up to there, but the lowest salary should be at least as high as the minimum wage. In other words, the 10,000 lira should be increased to 17,000 lira immediately. While in 2002 only a very small number of pensioners received the lowest pension, it has now become almost the average salary. That has to be changed. The premium update coefficients must be increased, the monthly payment rates must be increased, the lower limits of pensions must be increased. In other words, what was established in Law No. 5510 of 2006. If they are broken, they need to be fixed. There are other problems too. There are widows’ and orphans’ pensions. How many parts is a salary divided into? People get ridiculous salaries because of this division. Our claim is that the lowest pension should be the minimum wage, and there should be no salary below this limit. “The remaining salary of pensioners should not be divided by three or four. It is not right to share this remaining salary and condemn people to very low salaries.”
“Look the pensioner in the eye”
Özgür Özel said that if the government does not hear the pensioner’s voice, they will soon all come to the squares and make the pensioner’s voice heard.
Stating that they will support the work and the pensioners, Özel said: “Tayyip Erdoğan, the pensioners will no longer be silent from now on. Either you give us our rights, or the pensioners will know how to get their rights. We will fight together until we get our rights.” he said.
Özel said:
“From now on I say this to pensioners: you have always been oppressed, you have always been forgotten, you have been neglected. There was always a problem, it was more important than your problem. From now on, there is no problem more important than your problem. We don’t accept it. He approaches the pensioner and says he knows it, he asks you to know it and accept it. He wants you to do it. You are hungry, you are poor, your problems are great, but the danger is also great. They will stop the Adhan, they will divide the country, they will lower the flag, vote for me. My brother, if this country has not been divided until today, if this flag has not been divided Come down, if this adhan has not stopped, it is not because of your heroism, but because of these pensioners. Isn’t the muezzin who recites the five times Adhan retired? Isn’t the imam leading the prayer retired? Isn’t the soldier and special sergeant who raises the flag along the border retired? Those who have cooked this army’s food, baked its bread and raised this army’s children to this day are retired teachers, cooks, servants, right?” “
