While the smart TV is still very popular, the projector is slowly gaining a foothold. Samsung is now taking the next step with a barely noticeable 8K projector.
When you think of a projector, you probably think of an ugly thing hanging from the ceiling in a classroom or meeting room. Nowadays there are many more species. For example, there is the Freestyle for under 1,000 euros, which you can set up anywhere (and is also completely wireless), but there are also ones that can be placed on the wall.
Samsung will show the premiere during CES 2024. This projector, which you place close to the wall, can now display 8K images and turns your home into a real cinema. This means you no longer need a smart TV if you find a black surface in your room ugly.
Samsung is now bringing an 8K projector
This projector is actually a large, eye-catching box that you place on the wall. When you switch it on, a small flap opens and projects a film or series onto the wall.
And you can rightly call it a home theater because it combines 100 watts with 8.2.2-channel Dolby Atmos and sound-on-screen technology. This creates the impression that the sound is coming from the screen and not the projector. If you place the device about 30 centimeters from the wall, it produces an image with a diagonal of 150 inches.

A replacement for your smart TV
With a size of 150 inches, 8K makes a lot of sense. One disadvantage: Many series, films and games are not yet produced in 8K. In fact, there is no streaming service that supports this massive size. However, Samsung says this doesn’t have to be a problem as the projector can upscale 4K to 8K.
Unfortunately, Samsung has not yet announced a price or launch date for the smart TV replacement during CES 2024. However, we can give a little hint. The brand’s most luxurious projector (which, by the way, has to work at 4K) costs around 4,299 euros. So expect the 8K version to be more expensive.
