US automaker Tesla has recalled nearly 200,000 electric cars because of a software glitch that can affect the driver’s visibility when reversing, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Friday.
The recall affects certain 2023 Tesla S, X and Y models with fully autonomous driving technology. According to a report released this week by NHTSA, the problem with the cameras was discovered when Tesla first received reports of it in late December.
The federal authority emphasized that this disruption could increase the risk of accidents. Tesla has stated that there have been no reported accidents related to this issue and will issue a software update to resolve this malfunction.

The automaker has issued several recalls for its vehicles over the years. Most recently, the company recalled more than two million vehicles in December due to a defect in the Autopilot self-driving function.
The recall came after a two-year investigation by NHTSA.
