New Delhi ∙ The Indian Army has launched a military operation called ‘Operation Sarva Shakti’ to drive out Pakistani terrorists who continue to attack in Jammu and Kashmir. The new mission has been launched with the aim of suppressing the terrorists on both sides of the Pir Panchal range in Kashmir. In view of the increase in terror attacks in Rajouri and Poonch areas, the Army has prepared for a decisive step.
Security sources said that the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps and the Nagrotha-based White Knight Corps will carry out a simultaneous military operation. Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, Special Task Force and intelligence agencies will also be part of the mission. Operation Sarva Shakti is similar to Operation Sarpavinas of 2003 to evacuate terrorists from the same region.
Army chief Manoj Pandey had recently said that terrorist activities in the region had almost ended after the operation in 2003. But there are currently signs that attempts are being made to revive it. About twenty soldiers have died in clashes in recent months. In December, four soldiers died when an army vehicle was destroyed in an explosion. In this context, the army has launched a new mission.
