As you may recall, last year Remedy decided to abandon their old bullet-inspired logo and replace it with what they claimed was a “updated visual identity for Remedy”. The new logo is basically just the letter R, which is exactly what the classic Rockstar logo looks like – and Take-Two isn’t happy about it.
Despite the fact that Take-Two and Remedy have done many deals in the past (Take-Two published the first two Max Payne titles developed by Remedy before purchasing the entire franchise and leaving Rockstar to produce the third ) and also have many future collaborations (Remedy is doing the remakes of the first two Max Payne titles on behalf of Take-Two) – they are now in a dispute over the logo. Take-Two claims so “There is a risk of confusion among the public”and the two parties have agreed to try to resolve the issue between themselves.
We hope that a solution is found that both can agree on and that does not affect the cooperation of both companies, otherwise we assume that it may end up in court. What do you think, are they confusingly similar?
