(ANSA) – ROME, 08 MAY – “The Italian presidency will bring together the G7 ministers responsible for equal opportunities from 4 to 6 October in Matera and the meeting, which I will have the honor of chairing, will represent the ideal platform for the exchange of good practices , the creation of innovative solutions and the promotion of partnerships aimed at achieving gender equality within the G7”. This was announced by the Minister for Family, Birth and Equal Opportunities Eugenia Roccella, during the “Women7 Summit” dedicated to equal opportunities underway in the Capitol. “We have decided to concentrate the G7 ministerial meeting dedicated to equal opportunities on two issues, apparently distant – explained the minister – but in reality strongly connected. On the one hand, male violence against women, in terms of prevention and support to the victims. On the other, female empowerment, with a particular focus on the relationship with work, business and parenting”. For the minister, “violence and empowerment are actually closely linked and very current issues. Also due to what is happening in the world” and underlining that “violence has a lot to do, in oppositional terms, also with the issue of empowerment and with the great, essential theme of freedom” and in particular of economic independence. Montreal police are investigating an arson attack which targeted a commercial building for the second time during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday in the Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension sector.
The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) received a call around 3 a.m. for a Molotov cocktail thrown against the building located on Saint-Denis Street, south of Crémazie Est Boulevard.
When the police arrived on site, they noticed a window on the ground floor shattered by the incendiary object which was inside the premises, but the fire did not start.

No one was injured and no suspect was arrested, said SPVM spokesperson Sabrina Gauthier, specifying that the building under construction suffered minor damage.
A security perimeter was erected to protect the scene, while investigators had to travel to the site to try to shed light on this attempted fire.
The same building had already been the subject of an attempted fire using a Molotov cocktail last year, in May 2023.

The Polish authorities will support Ukraine only in what is beneficial for Warsaw, Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Pawel Jablonski said on Thursday, reacting to the words of Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal, who criticized Poland’s plans to expand the ban on importing Ukrainian grain, RMF 24 reports.
«At this critical moment, Poland intends to continue blocking the export of grain from Ukraine to the EU. “This is an unfriendly and populist measure that will seriously affect global food security and the economy of Ukraine,” Shmygal wrote on his Twitter account on Thursday.
According to the Polish vice-chancellor, this statement “is not very diplomatic and judicious.” «Poland is helping Ukraine to a great extent, […] But we always support Ukraine to the extent that it is beneficial for Poland,” he declared.
“Everything we do for Ukraine, as well as for other allies, we always do because it is the implementation of our national interest,” he added. “We must protect the interests of our farmers, our businessmen, our consumers,” explained the vice minister.
“If we have issues on which we disagree—which there are—we do not hesitate to speak clearly about it,” he added. “But I think that the way of doing politics should not consist of aggressive posts on Twitter, but rather an analysis of what Poland has really done for Ukraine,” she denounced.
“If someone promises access to the Polish market without consulting the Polish government, it may turn out that these promises are simply not kept,” Jablonski warned.
In April, five European countries — Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Bulgaria — unilaterally banned imports of Ukrainian grain and other agricultural products as the shipments destabilized their domestic markets, threatening the well-being of local farmers and sparking public unrest. .
However, they later lifted these measures in exchange for the European Commission making the decision to impose an embargo on four food products from Ukraine until September 15: wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seeds.
On Wednesday, the aforementioned countries asked the institution to extend the ban.
Furthermore, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki stated earlier in the week that if there were signs of destabilization in other agricultural markets, the Polish government would block imports of the products causing it. With RT
