Actor Yoon Tae-young actually lost in the second trial of a lawsuit filed against the tax authorities to cancel the imposition of gift tax.
According to the legal community on the 23rd, the Administrative Division of the Seoul High Court 8-3 (Chief Judge Shin Yong-ho and Chung Cho Jin-gu) rejected the appeals of both sides in the lawsuit recently filed by Yoon Tae-young against the principal. Gangnam Tax Office to cancel the imposition of gift tax. Among Yoon Tae-young’s request to cancel 95 million won in gift tax, only the cancellation of 5.4 million won in additional tax was accepted.
In 2019, Taeyoung Yoon received 400,000 shares of stock in A, an unlisted company in the real estate rental business, from her father, former Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Jongyong Yoon.
Taeyoung Yoon calculated the value of Company A to be approximately 15.8 billion won, the value of the talented stock to be 3.166 billion won, and to pay a gift tax of approximately 1 billion won.
However, the tax authorities corrected the value of the corporations owned by Company A and determined that the value of Company A was 16.7 billion won and the value of the stocks given to Mr. Yoon was 3.347 billion won.
Accordingly, Yoon Tae-young was informed that he must pay an additional gift tax of 90.4 million won and an additional tax of 5.4 million won for missing the payment deadline.
Yoon Tae-young, who was dissatisfied with the disposition, filed a lawsuit, but the first trial ruled in favor of the tax authorities.
At the time, the issue was whether the ‘book value’ used in determining corporate value under the Commercial Taxes Increase Act should be viewed as the acquisition cost or the amount stated in the company’s financial statement, but the tax authorities’ argument was “the cost acquisition is the standard” accepted.
However, the additional tax was cancelled, saying that Yoon Tae-young only paid less gift tax because he misunderstood or misunderstood the law, and that it was illegal to hold him responsible for that .
Taeyoung Yoon and the tax authorities both appealed against the ruling, but the decision of the second trial did not change.

Abortion returns to the debate in Italy 46 years after its legalization
ROME (AP) — Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni’s far-right government wants to give anti-abortion groups access to women contemplating ending their pregnancies, reigniting tensions over abortion 46 years after it was legalized in this country with an overwhelming Catholic majority.
The Senate was voting Tuesday on a bill linked to the European Union’s post-COVID recovery funds, which includes an amendment sponsored by Meloni’s party, Brothers of Italy. The text, already approved by the Chamber of Deputies, authorizes the regions to allow groups “with certified experience in supporting motherhood” to have access to public centers where women contemplating abortion go for advice.
The right maintains that the amendment only fulfills the original intention of the 1978 law that legalized abortion, known as Law 194, which includes articles to prevent intervention and support motherhood.
For the opposition left, the amendment means an attack on the right to abortion, as they had warned would happen with Meloni’s election in 2022.
“The government must understand that although it says it does not want to boycott or touch Law 194, the truth is that the right opposes women’s reproductive autonomy, fears women’s decisions regarding motherhood, sexuality and abortion,” said Democratic Senator Cecilia D’Elia at a protest event days ago.
The 1978 law authorizes abortion on demand in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy or later if the woman’s life or health is in danger. Create free public counseling centers for pregnant women about their rights and offer services for those who want to terminate their pregnancies.
Easy access is not always guaranteed. The law allows health personnel to register as conscientious objectors and refuse to perform abortions. Many have done so, and sometimes women have had to travel great distances to obtain termination.
Meloni, who during the campaign raised the slogan “God, country and family,” has repeatedly said that he will not repeal the 1978 law and only wants it to be fully implemented. But he encourages women to have babies to reverse Italy’s demographic crisis.
The Italian birth rate, one of the lowest in the world, has been falling for 15 years and fell to a record level of 379,000 births last year. The right, with strong support from the Vatican, is campaigning to reach at least half a million births annually by 2033, the rate that demographers say is necessary to prevent the economy from collapsing under the weight of the aging population.
