Pensions, May increases: who is entitled to them, how they are calculated
Pensions and increases also arriving for the month of May: with circular number 35 of 3 April 2023, the INPS provided the calculation and payment instructions (which will include arrears) of the increase in pensions equal to or lower than the minimum payment. Increase recognized for each of the monthly payments from January 2023 to December 2024, including the thirteenth monthly payment due.
Pensions, here’s how they work and who is entitled to the May increases
But how much do these increases amount to?? According to what was reconstructed by the online site il Mattina.it, the increase in pensions is temporary and varies depending on age and year. In 2023, the increase is 1.5% for most retirees, but rises to 6.4% for those age seventy-five or older. In 2024, the increase is 2.7%. This increase applies only if the total monthly pension is equal to or lower than the INPS minimum pension. If the pension exceeds this figure but is less than the increased amount, the increase is still granted up to the increased limit.
When reevaluating pensions in 2023 and 2024, only the net pension benefit is considered without the temporary increase. The increase applies to the gross total of the pension, provided that it is equal to or lower than the INPS minimum pension. This includes pension payments subject to IRPEF, registered in the Central Pension Register and paid by bodies other than INPS which are subject to the cumulative adjustment system, or paid by INPS. Non-taxable benefits (such as the social increase or the fourteenth month’s salary), welfare, optional or accompanying benefits are not included in the calculation of the increase.
To calculate the increment, we start from the total gross monthly amount of the interested party’s pensions. The increase is therefore applied both to pensions integrated at the minimum, even partially, and to non-integrated pensions whose amount is equal to or lower than the INPS minimum. For example, for a pension of 563.74 euros, the increase is 1.50% if you are under 75 years old, therefore it becomes 572.20 euros, while for those over 75 it is 6.40%, therefore it becomes 599.82 euros. These amounts are the limits for obtaining the benefit in 2023. The adjustment based on the final index will be applied in 2024. The amounts for 2024 will be determined during the pension renewal of that year.

it’s a scam and beware of your bank account
2024-05-04 05:14:11
Many French people have recently received this fraudulent message and many have almost been trapped.
“I almost did something stupid!” Sylvianne (first name has been changed) still blames himself. A few days ago, this sixty-year-old received an SMS telling her that her health card was about to expire. Worried about seeing her green document become unusable, she clicks on the link provided to, she believes, renew it. Without thinking, by his own admission, “because I needed my health card to go to the optician to change my glasses.”
Faced with the “urgency” of the situation, she begins to fill out the form: name, first name, postal address and telephone number on the first page. A second asks him to choose a method of sending the document: with La Poste, with receipt within 3 or 5 days for 95 cents, or with Chronopost to receive it in 2 days for 1.90 euros. The page to “proceed with payment” is then displayed. It was at that moment that this resident of the south of France realized the scam: “the Carte Vitale is free,” she said to herself. Even shipping.
She then has the reflex to close the internet page, even if she had started to write down her bank card numbers. Good luck to her: as she did not validate, she avoided providing her bank details to a fraudster.

Because in fact, this message received by Sylvianne, as by thousands of other French people in recent days, is indeed a fake (see the photo). But how can you easily detect it when the words “AMELI” appear clearly? The first rule to know is simple: the Vitale card has no expiry date. Unlike the bank card, it is valid for life. If updates need to be made, your doctor or pharmacist can do them directly.
Furthermore, social security never sends SMS asking for your bank card number. Also, if there is a link in the SMS, it must begin with “ameli.fr/”. If this is not the case, it is a fake site that will scam you. You should definitely not click and, even less, fill out and validate any form. Also note that the “news” at the bottom of the page are often not from the correct year and that spelling errors are left. “Send” for example, in this case, instead of “Sending”.
Anyone who clicks on the link and completes the process is exposed to fraudulent use of their bank account. As scammers have access to your data, they can then use it to extract money directly from you. You must therefore cancel your card if the form has been completed completely.
While this type of scam is common and there are numerous alerts on the subject, prevention must still be done to avoid unpleasant surprises, although they continue to happen, tirelessly.

Interjet, Aeromar and Magnicharters did not cover the TUA in the AICM
Mexico City. Three commercial airlines that operated from the Benito Juárez International Airport of Mexico City (AICM) did not comply with the payment of the Airport Use Fee (TUA), the former director of that air terminal, Admiral Carlos Ignacio Velázquez Tiscareño, denounced this morning. .
In the morning of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, when presenting a report on the situation at that airport during his administration, from July 2022 to March 2024, he indicated that the airline companies that did not cover the TUA are Interjet, Aeromar and Magnicharters.
Faced with this, he said, the airport authority filed two criminal complaints.
“We filed criminal complaints, basically against the owners of the airline Interjet, directly against the owners. As I already explained to you, as I already told you, the Public Ministry gave up and we had to file an injunction so that this did not proceed,” said the current general director of the Administration of the National Port System (Asipona) Veracruz.
Meanwhile, in the case of Magnicharters, the owners of that company recognized the debt of 74 million pesos and are paying the debts.
“The other airline that was not giving us the right to TUA was Magnicharter, we discovered it, it had 74 million pesos in debt and we told it: ‘You pay us or stop flying.’ Magnicharter is not a regular commercial airline, but rather a package tour airline. So, in a very responsible way, they recognized the debt, we made a payment program with the regulatory interests and they are paying it responsibly and yes, they continue flying,” he explained.
The former director of the AICM stressed that as far as Aeromar is concerned, they were prevented from continuing with air operations and face a commercial lawsuit.
“Aeromar owed us 750 million pesos, it owed the Treasury, it owed the union, it owed Infonavit, it owed Social Security, it owed ASA (Airports and Auxiliary Services) fuel and it continued flying. We summoned them several times, they refused to pay, the owners do not live in Mexico and they also do not have their own property.”
For this reason, “we take them down from flying. Since then, there is now a commercial bankruptcy so that the few assets they have are delivered to the unions and in the meantime we can use those facilities to obtain an economic benefit,” the admiral explained.
