Users assure that despite the energy savings achieved, these are not reflected in the bill.
The residents of Valledupar expressed their discomfort at the disproportionate increase in electricity tariffs from the Afinia company in this region of the country.
The excessive fees are evident in the municipalities of the capital Cesar. Users don’t understand why the bill is more expensive when the kilowatt consumption is the same every month.
One of those affected is Yanitza Fontalvo, a resident of the Los Cortijos de Valledupar neighborhood who has been paying $600,000 a month for her electricity bill. This month the bill arrived for $1,047,902.
“The bill was already expensive last year and amounted to the equivalent of 600,000 pesos. Now it arrived at an exorbitant increase of $447,902 considering I only use fans. They don’t suffocate. I don’t know how I’m going to pay for this consumption,” emphasized Fontalvo.
Another voice that joins this claim is that of Jaime Antonio Gómez Bolívar, a resident of the Villalba neighborhood whose electricity bill amounts to $1,200,000.
He assures that despite the energy savings he has achieved, they are not reflected in this receipt.
“The costs are too high. “We follow the Afinia company’s recommendations to save electricity every month, but this is not reflected in these receipts,” the user emphasized.
If you decline this situation, another cost will be added to the settlement of this receipt: the “Protect your world and Home” insurance, which will charge $31,000 on each receipt without prior authorization.
“Several phone numbers provided by Afinia were called to complain and we wrote a letter asking them to cancel this insurance and refund the amount we had charged for three months. That means we paid $93,000 for this insurance that we didn’t authorize at all,” the user pointed out.
The Vallenatos demand a quick and effective solution to this problem that is affecting their economy and quality of life.
They also demand that the Superintendence of Public Services respond to the recurring complaints that come from this part of the Colombian Caribbean.
In response to the complaints lodged, Jorge Rivero, managing director of the Afinia company in Valledupar, explained that the increase was due to the user’s electricity consumption in the month of December.
Another factor is due to the increase in tariff costs, which are increasingly increasing. Currently the unit cost is $1,065.
“However, I will delve deeper into the issue and review these specific issues to determine whether there may be an anomaly in the meter,” Rivero emphasized. Taken from El Tiempo. By Ludys Ovalle Jacome
