The Fénérive-Est industrial unit was inaugurated yesterday. |
Avoiding losses and maximizing yield for producers is the objective of the lychee processing unit installed in Fénérive-Est.
A multifunction dryer is the heart of the industrial unit installed in Fénérive-Est, a local factory which is part of the “One district, one Factory”, or “Taninketsa indostrialy” program.
Already operational, this industrial unit produces dried fruits, specializing in dried lychee, a fruit abundant in the Analanjirofo region and localities located in neighboring regions. Its inauguration was made yesterday by Andry Rajoelina, President of the Republic, accompanied by Christian Ntsay, Prime Minister.
As explained by Fano Rakotondrazaka, director of economic monitoring and communication at the Ministry of Industrialization and Trade, the idea is to transform lychees that are not exported or not sold on the market, in order to increase their value. added instead of letting them rot. “Every year, we export between 17,500 and 20,000 tonnes of lychees. However, there remain several tonnes which could not be sold and which are rotting on site,” indicates the ministerial official.
“This is a concrete example of the positive impact of the ODOF or Taninketsa indostrialy program that you initiated and included in state policy. Processing prevents non-exported or unsold fruits from rotting,” adds director Rakotondrazaka, who represented Edgard Razafindravahy, Minister of Industrialization and Trade.
Palpable
In addition to lychees, the multifunction dryer installed in Fénérive-Est can be used for all types of fruit. Even leaves and fish can be dried there. Among the samples of products presented to the Head of State during his visit to the site yesterday, there is dried “Soanambo”. The industrial unit also takes care of packaging.
According to the explanations, fifteen planter cooperatives are the direct beneficiaries of this industrial unit. The Ministry of Industrialization and Trade has also managed to convince lychee exporters to acquire fruit drying equipment for nine lychee-producing municipalities around Fénérive-Est.
“This factory is concrete proof that the development on which the State is working is palpable down to the district level,” says the president of the beneficiary cooperatives, addressing the President of the Republic. Andry Rajoelina, for his part, added that the industrial units within the framework of the ODOF program “make it possible to optimize yields and minimize losses”.
Implemented by the Ministry of Industrialization and Trade, the ODOF or “Taninketsa indostrialy” program has sixty industrial units installed throughout the country. For the Atsinanana and Analanjirofo regions, the districts of Mahanoro, Vatomandry, Brickaville, Toamasina I and II, Soanierana Ivongo and Fénérive-Est already have it, according to Fano Rakotondrazaka. Those of Sainte-Marie and Vavatenina will soon be.
The ODOF program is a line of action at the local level to achieve the industrialization of the country. Industrialization being one of the three pillars of the General State Policy (PGE). As Director Rakotondrazaka explains, the ODOF is a materialization of the objective of producing and transforming locally what the population needs. “The production is sold on the local market,” he says.
The ministerial official adds that planters can increase their profits. There is also the creation of direct and indirect jobs. The local population also benefits by consuming local, quality products at an affordable price. During the inauguration of the Fénérive-Est site, President Rajoelina suggested the addition of a unit for processing lychee into juice. A processed product with which Madagascar can conquer the international market, according to him.

Apple is obliged to follow the laws of the countries where it operates
According to The Wall Street Journal and the The New York Timesthe company explained that it is “obliged to follow the laws of the countries where it operates, even when it does not agree”.
A large Firewall from China blocks many applications and technologies non-domestic networks in the country, leading locals to use VPNs if they want to access any of them.
Meta’s Facebook and Instagram are two of these applications, but WhatsApp and Threads have been available for download, until now.
The Chinese regulator’s order comes just before the Senate votes on a bill which could lead to prohibition do TikTok no EUA.
The Cyberspace Administration’s reasoning – that the apps are a national security concern – even echoes the argument made by US lawmakers to block TikTok in the country. In the current version of the bill, ByteDance will have one year to divest TikTok, otherwise the short video sharing platform will be banned from app stores.
The House is expected to pass the bill, which is part of a package that also includes aid to Ukraine and Israel. President Joe Biden has previously stated that he supports the package and will immediately sign the bills into law.

A Russian project scares the United States to death.. What is “Arctic-2” and what is its importance?
Russia – The United States is trying in various ways to obstruct the implementation of the huge Russian project in the Arctic Circle, “Arctic LNG-2,” while the global economy’s need for gas paints promising prospects for the project.
The Wall Street Journal expected, in a report, that the project would bring huge profits to Russia if many countries in the world abandoned the use of coal as an energy source.
The American newspaper pointed out that Washington, by imposing sanctions on the project, is trying to obstruct “Arctic LNG-2,” which is a strategic project for Russia.
The newspaper said that the United States, through a barrage of sanctions, is trying to disrupt the project and obstruct the project’s access to liquefied gas tankers.
In an indication of Washington’s fear of the project, the newspaper quoted US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Affairs Jeffrey Pyatt, saying, “The role of the United States is to ensure the death of the ‘Arctic LNG-2’ project.”
The report pointed out that global economies abandoning coal in favor of blue fuel will lead to a rise in global demand for liquefied gas, and this is accompanied by Russia’s intention to increase its production of liquefied natural gas by more than three times.
The report’s authors said that gas production in the aforementioned project began last year despite US sanctions. Russian analysts and officials considered it an overwhelming victory for Moscow, which was able to launch a gas container industry with its own capacity in its northern basins for the manufacture of warships and submarines.
The “Arctic LNG-2” project is the second huge project to produce liquefied natural gas by the Russian company “Novatec” after the “Yamal” project.
In 2023, the first line of the project was launched, from which the Total Energy group announced its withdrawal due to Western restrictions.
Within the framework of the project, it is planned to build three technological lines, each with a capacity of 6.6 million tons of liquefied gas annually.
The Russian company “Novatec” owns a controlling stake in the project, and the Chinese partners “CNOOC” and “CNPC” own a stake in the project.
The project’s investment value is approximately $20 billion, and it is located on the Gydan Peninsula in northern Russia.
