Green Day and the new era of the B-Side Band clearly dominate this year’s second roundup of music news. They were also joined by the duo Sleater-Kinney, Metal Master and The Reytons, pop-punk Neck Deep, actor Jeremy Renner, jazz trumpeter Keyon Harrold and hyperpop Ericdoa.
The following new titles were released on Friday, January 19th: Green Day – Saviors
Genre: Punk Rock / Pop-Punk The giants of American punk rock Green Day are back with a new album after less than four years, and according to early reviews, the comeback is spectacular. Their fourteenth album is called “Saviors” and is intended to be a return to all the greatness that this band has always had to offer: energetic, easy-to-remember, melodic songs. Fifteen of them can be found on the tracklist and thematically they convey disillusionment with the current political situation, denounce social inequality and other current issues and provide insights into their personal stories. The collection was created in studios in London and Los Angeles. It was produced by Rob Cavallo, who had worked with the group on previous albums. The packaging of the entire piece is also interesting. It shows an edited version of a photo taken by Chris Steele-Perkins during the riots in 1978. It shows a young Ivan Fraser shrugging with a stone in his hand on the Falls Road in Belfast. A car drives behind him with a burning pile of garbage. For the cover, Ivan’s face was altered to give him a mocking expression. Several clips have already been released for the new song, the latest is for the song “Bobby Sox” and can be viewed and listened to along with others on YouTube. B Sideband – Back and forth
Genre: Big Band / Soul In their own words, the Brno B-Side Band has entered a new phase in their career. “The birth of our new record is also a harbinger of a new era for the band. We will no longer primarily serve and fulfill someone else’s dreams, but above all ourselves.” B-Side Band is a band that stands out from the crowd “The Czech music scene with its quality is rising with the new album “Find their place in any case,” explains the band’s main representative and record producer Josef Buchta. The result is ten songs, the authors of which are mainly Martin Kudlička and Tomáš Vunderle Koudelka. They were joined, for example, by Lukáš Janota and Pavel Zlámal. Arranger Petr Kovařík adds: “We tell stories from the lives of adults, created by musicians who have already experienced something, for a receptive, adult audience.” You can find out what you can imagine on the band’s website. Sleater-Kinney – Little Rope
Genre: Indie Rock The American rock band Sleater-Kinney speaks out with their eleventh studio album “Little Rope”. It contains ten songs characteristic of their own eclectic style, combining elements of punk, indie rock, alternative rock and post-grunge. The group was founded in Seattle in 1994 by singers and guitarists Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker and the SK brand developed into one of the most influential and important rock formations of the 90s. Commenting on the news, Carrie said: “It’s about dealing with difficult loss. How to Heal When You Feel Broken. How to learn to love again when you’ve lost someone you loved.” The record was produced by John Congleton and was preceded by the singles “Hell”, “Say It Like You Mean It” and “Untidy Creature”. . You can find these, along with other examples, on the duo’s YouTube profile. TR3 with Tim Reynolds – Check it out
Genre: Fusion TR3 is a power trio led by the American singer and guitarist Tim Reynolds. His long-time bandmates Dan Martier (bass) and Mick Vaughn (drums) also work with him in the line-up, which has existed since 1985. Her specialty is compositions in the fusion style. Although only a trio, they are still characterized by a spatial layering of instruments and a mix of elements from rock, blues, jazz and world music. The “Watch It” collection is further proof. With ten mostly instrumental numbers, it presents the trio in its most sensitive, harmonious and imaginative form to date. Demos are available on YouTube.

Keyon Harrold – Foreverland
Genre: Jazz / Rap
American jazz trumpeter Keyon Harrold, who has recorded or played with stars such as Rihanna, Eminem, Gregory Porter, D’Angelo, Maxwell and Mary J. Blige, returns after seven long years with his third solo album “Foreverland”. There are some famous guests here again. Common, Robert Glasper, PJ Morton, Laura Mvula and Malaya accompanied the protagonist with their instruments or vocals. From this list it is clear that he also mixed R’n’B, rap and some other genres into his jazz. We recommend a preview on his YouTube profile. The Reytons – Ballad of a Spectator
Genre: Indie Rock Year after year and after the successful second studio album “What’s Rock and Roll?” The island’s Reytons are back with another studio load for the hall. He prepared five of them with a team that included Brandon Sammons, Jason Mater, Jeffrey Bonilla and Lee Anna James, but the other two were composed and filmed by star Walter Afanasieff. You can find out where the American actor and now musician went on his YouTube profile. Neck deep – neck deep
Genre: Pop Punk Anyone who likes pop punk is definitely looking forward to the new album by the Welsh band Neck Deep. After less than four years, they return with her and they didn’t bother with the name at all – they left her without a name. Fans will find ten songs on it that, for the first time, don’t feature original drummer Dani Washington, who left the band two years ago. While all instruments were recorded by Ben Barlow & Co. In Wrexham, Wales, Matt Powles recorded drums at Treehouse Studio, England. You can find out on YouTube whether it’s worth going to this year’s Rock For People. Master – Saints expelled
Genre: Death Metal The American death metal band Master has prepared a new CD “Saints Dispelled” for their fans. A dozen new songs do credit to their creators, their genre and their time: “It’s as if the crushing riffs ripped your face off, someone sewed it back on, and then ripped it off again,” says one review. Whether this is true, judge for yourself and listen to samples on the YouTube profile of the label Hammerheart Records. By the way, did you know that this band, whose roots go back to the Czech Republic, was the birth of the genre they so proudly represent?
