Unable to withstand the pressure of the competitive examination, the student committed suicide again in Kota, Rajasthan. Eighteen-year-old Niharika Singh, who was preparing for the common entrance exam, hanged herself in her house after writing a heartbreaking message to her parents. As soon as the parents saw their daughter hanging, they rushed her to the hospital, but could not save her life.
Niharika was rehearsing for the competitive exam. Police also said that in addition to studying for eight hours a day, the child also spent extra time studying. This is what Niharika’s suicide note says. “Mom, Dad, I can’t overcome this barrier.” So I take my own life. I am a loser. She is a bad daughter. Sorry, mom and dad too. It was the last option.’
Earlier this month, while preparing for the NEET exam, a student named Muhammad Said committed suicide because he could not withstand the pressure. The government has issued guidelines for coaching centers to avoid putting too much pressure on children.
Mental health experts point out that the children who attend the coaching centers are too young and miss out on school functions and quality times with friends. Experts also point out that students are left with no opportunity to relieve stress while immersing themselves in rigorous training. It is estimated that around two million children from Kota prepare for the competitive exams every year.
