The united organization will form a stronger opinion thanks to the formulation of a unified vision by all members and associate members, ensuring more balanced decisions. It is expected that the service offering will be of higher quality, allowing for a clearer division of responsibilities, more direct contact and faster and more accurate transmission of information. The creation of a unified organization ensures more efficient use of financial resources, reduces administrative costs and promotes savings of time resources for elected officials and members. In the future, collaborations with government institutions would be organized with a partner, which would reduce the time required for communication and the work process.
In order to make the merger process legal, the Association and Foundation Act stipulates that a reorganization of the association through merger is possible. To initiate this process, a restructuring agreement must be concluded between LOK and LSFP, which in turn must be approved at the general meetings of both LOK and LSFP members with the support of two-thirds of the members. Taking into account the principles of good governance, the new version of the LOK’s statutes will be discussed at the LOK’s general meeting later this year. on March 27, simultaneous signing of the restructuring agreement between the two mentioned organizations. The restructuring is considered completed three months and fifteen days after the signing of the contract – on July 12th with the entry in the Business Register of the Republic of Lithuania regarding the inclusion of the LSFP Association in the LOC. From this moment on, LOK is also responsible for all LSFP obligations.
The merger envisages that the LOK would unite LOK members – Olympic sports associations that are already members of the LOK, recognized sports associations, two members of the LOK Athletes Commission/Olympic athletes, the Latvian Paralympic Committee and the Latvian Association of Municipalities as associated LOK members – associated sports associations, associated sports organizations, Latvian Olympic Club, Latvian Olympic Academy, Association of Latvian Metropolitan Cities. All members have the opportunity to be elected or delegate representatives for election to the LOK Executive Committee or LOK commissions and institutions, submit proposals for LOK activities, participate in meetings of LOK IK and LOK-related institutions and obtain information about LOK – Get activities. The main difference between LOK members and associate members is that associate members do not have voting rights in the LOK general meeting.
